0:21BAmaziah is spelled A-M-A-Z-I-A-H.
0:26AExcellent. And where are you from?
0:28BI’m local here.
0:29AYou’re from DC?
0:29BYeah, I’m born and raised here.
0:30AOh, excellent. And what had you decide to do journalism and philosophy minor?
0:34BUh, so journalism, it’s, it’s been carrying like with my family like generation. My great-grandmother, she great, uh, she graduated here at Howard since 1943.
0:44AThat’s, that’s remarkable.
0:45BYes, yes. God bless her heart.
0:48AAmen.
0:49BAnd yeah, and also I’ve been doing like sports broadcasting since high school. I’ve been kind Commentating on like sports, like NBA, NFL, like since like over pandemic. So you know, so you know, like like the school’s been you know be closing. So I was like, no, I gotta find something. I gotta find my my inspiration. Like what should I do after I get out of high school? So I gotta find my own purpose.
1:11AAbsolutely. And so how’s that been for you? That’s that’s a really important journey. Self-discovery is is a lifelong journey.
1:16BOh yes. And what else you ask me?
1:20AWhy philosophy actually?
1:21BSo philosophy --
1:22AI studied philosophy in undergrad.
1:24BYeah.
1:25AAnd now I’m a journalist, so I’m like, oh, you’re the person to talk to.
1:28BSo philosophy, actually, I got that from my dad. Honestly, I, I honestly hate philosophy but love it at the same time. I really love like the human knowledge when it comes to people, people with arguments. Even if -- no, it don’t matter what type of argument it is, no matter how ridiculous it sounds. It’s not about people’s opinion, is it based on like their own knowledge and their own visualizations. Like how they understand their own point of values, and versus like people who may disagree with you. So I just I just love that the term of people’s like own knowledge. So I just love that.
2:02AOkay, epistemology guy.
2:04BYes.
2:05AOkay, stop playing with it. Okay, so what do you know about crypto?
2:08BWell, honestly, I don’t really know much about crypto, but I would guess is that they like okay, but I would guess about crypto. I, I guess they sort of help to some extent to where they may help you guide from where you want to go to. If people actually use that as an investment too when it comes to crypto, because that’s why I realized that too. I got some friends of mine that do crypto for like Bitcoin that like sells, sells like that. He actually makes some money too. And I, I do understand, I understand that It could also give you like a downfall too, because could we come to crypto? Because they can honestly take away all your money too.
2:51AYou get scammed.
2:51BYes, yeah, especially with scammers. But that depends on who you meet too. And finally, I would say just be aware by by being aware who you put your your trust in when it comes to crypto, because you may not know what their their. True intentions, because like they could, like you said, scammers, because they can scam you all your money. They can take everything. They they can even take your identity too. If it’s dangerous too, I’m saying like just be aware of who are you selling like your product to, because they can also take your product too as well too. They could use that for their own, like for their own benefits. So that’s all I have to say.
3:35AOkay, and what questions do you have about crypto?
3:37BSo I would say, oh, there’s a few questions. Like, what is -- I want to know, okay, this is for the rest of the people. What does crypto like mean to you? And what, uh, obviously what knowledge and steps have you guys to be sure, or, or better yet, how to prevent crypto -- how I’ll say, what better way to prevent crypto from take -- uh, what are the ways to prevent crypto from scamming, like, out of your paycheck? You know, I’m just rambling on.
4:15ANo, yeah, you’re all good. Uh, well, to answer your question, right, you know, I think the most important thing for people to get is, um, inflation. How much do you know about inflation?
4:23BNot really much. I may have heard of it. But if you --
4:27Ayeah, most people. Yeah, but you know, the reality is that inflation is the price of goods going up over time because of the value of the dollar is going down.
4:35BGotcha.
4:36AAnd the value of the dollar goes down because people can print US dollars, and when they print more, you know, the pie gets -- the slices get --
4:41BEven though it is illegal to print like money.
4:44AYeah, yeah, for you, but not for the Federal Reserve.
4:47BThat’s their job. Gotcha. But like, mostly people actually do print out money Uh, by using like money, they use a print combination to make more money. You know, it’s illegal to do so.
4:58AYeah, that’s true. They commit fraud like that.
4:59BYeah, that’s what I’m saying.
5:00ABut, but people say that inflation is the biggest tax on the working class because the government’s able to print money, um, while devaluing the labor that you do every day because now your dollars go less far at the store, right, when you need things. But your minimum wage doesn’t track with that. Your wages aren’t tracking with that. And so for me, I’m trying to help people understand the relationship between inflation and cryptocurrency. And so Bitcoin was actually invented particularly to be a replacement for the US dollar as the world reserve currency, to replace global government currencies as actually like a reserve system. Because, you know, we used to have the gold standard, and then that went away, and the US dollar became the currency people around the globe started leaning on. But as people are losing confidence in the US and our monetary policy, they’re becoming concerned that if I keep holding the dollar, The U.S. might just keep printing money, you know, at my expense as a country. You know, let alone you as an individual.
5:50BLike how it’s affecting you.
5:51AExactly. And so if countries around the globe decide we’re no longer going to want the U.S. dollar.
5:55BGotcha.
5:56AHow do you assume that would impact Americans working for U.S. dollars every day?
6:00BSo can you like shorten that question?
6:02AYeah, yeah. So they call it de-dollarization. This shift away from the U.S. dollar as a global reserve currency. I’m saying if people around the world stop wanting dollars. How do you assume that would impact the US economy?
6:13BI would say, okay, first, like, say it would decrease -- it would decrease people’s wealth in America. Yes, here in America. And not only that, and yeah, it’ll basically just decrease people’s wealth. They’re not gonna like earn like the exact same amount of money. They’re gonna use like different kinds of payments, which also affects not only like -- not only like the people around them What about companies that actually is that is helping them out, impacting this community? Because without the U.S. dollars, what they going to spend it on?
6:48AExactly, man.
6:49BOr like fund like do like fundraising, fundraising that also affects with U.S. dollars. How’s that going to work out? Some people actually doing donations, donation like people who have six like sick children, homeless people, and. Like, how’s that better in this, like, this country, like, we live in here in this America? I don’t get that either. That’s honestly, that honestly shocks me because I never knew that.
7:15AWhich one? How inflation works?
7:17BYeah, how inflation works.
7:18AAnd I think, I think that’s what I call it propaganda.
7:20BPropaganda.
7:20AI don’t think they want us to know how inflation works. I think they want us to keep going to work and not wondering about, you know, what’s going to happen.
7:26BThey’re not being, they’re not being self-aware.
7:28ANo, no, no, they’re being intentional and trying to keep us from being able to really Hold the value of our work.
7:33BGotcha.
7:33AYou know, because I think rich people and around the globe are thinking, oh, I can buy Bitcoin and I’ll escape inflation. But working-class people around the globe are working every day, saving money, trying to figure out why nothing works.
7:43BYeah, something like these rich people think that they they can just walk, they could just do however they like because they got the most money.
7:49AYeah, but then people could end up in perpetual poverty potentially.
7:52BThat too.
7:53AAnd so that’s really why I’m committed to help people understand crypto and inflation. Because what are you doing? To hedge against inflation in America. What are you going to do if we have hyperinflation?
8:02BIf we do, if we --
8:03Aand you can’t afford groceries, what’s life going to be like?
8:06BThat’s true. Shoot, shoot. Imagine you can’t even buy groceries for your own family. You can’t buy --
8:11Ayou work 2 jobs.
8:13BNo, okay.
8:15AEverybody in your household works 2 jobs and you all are still hungry.
8:19BThat, that honestly going -- that’s gonna end up bad too, because -- but if people actually gonna start reporting in too. But like, because that reporting sent to the news, news, everybody, they’re gonna start everything in their power to make sure to prevent that conflict from happening.
8:34ABut yeah, but it might be too late.
8:35BYeah, it was like, I don’t, I don’t, uh, well, to my knowledge, no, not a lot of people are going to care for real. They’re not.
8:42AWhen they are hungry, they’re gonna care. Yeah, I think we’ll see way more violence.
8:45BWell, to the last minute, people are gonna be gone.
8:48AYes, we’re just gonna be on the planes like COVID came.
8:52BThat’s not -- nah, that -- nah, this America gonna die very soon, right? Like, it’s gonna be bad.
9:00ASo what do you learn? What are you taking away from this conversation, man?
9:03BHonestly, honestly, the way you explain it, I may not know as much. Um, as far as maybe memorize some of the things we talked about.
9:12AThat’s okay.
9:13BBut I’ll say this very interesting conversation, like, we had inflations How this will like result to conflict of you know people the US dollar maybe possibly like may not use like US dollars no more, right decreasing maybe like groceries going to is going to pile down. Oh yes, especially that these niggas gonna start robbing people. They gonna start robbing everything too. They they say no screw it. This could be like the purge. Right, like, it’s gonna be crazy. People gonna start hurting each other just to get -- just to get the supplies they need. It’s just, uh, and it does it and it could never end. Yeah, it could never end like that. It’s just like, uh, oh, well, I was thinking of, uh, I was thinking like Germany for some reason.
10:05AUh, Holocaust.
10:06BYeah, Holocaust. It’s just like that, like Oh yeah, especially when it comes to housing.
10:11AHow people can --
10:11Bpeople like, how people actually can afford like their own housing if they can’t get like, uh, like the money? Oh, insurance, life insurance especially too, health insurance, health insurance, everything else that actually would affect people. Like, don’t -- not just don’t like affect people, like what about the babies? What about the babies too? They’re also important too. They say like, you know what, We don’t care about them. We just want to make sure we staying in power. That’s the only thing that’s only, only focused on is power. And only that. It feel like, hey, oh, we kind of like, we need that. Like, we honestly need, like, we need help. That’s all we gotta say.
10:50AI appreciate you, man. The conclusions you’re drawing, you say, you say you didn’t take a lot, but you took a lot away out of this conversation, and I’m really happy about that.
10:57BThank you.
10:58AIf you could ask people around the world one question, what would you ask them?
11:03BWhat I’ll say, the one question I would have for each and every one of you, I’ll say, to your own knowledge, but the best of your abilities, right?
11:17AOverly.
11:18BThis is kind of -- it’s kind of hard, but I want to ask the way I want to put it. I would say -- how I want to put it Okay, to everyone’s knowledge, to the best of their abilities, to you guys, the question I have you guys for is, do you believe inflation can lead to good -- to lead -- okay, what’s the best solutions of handling inflation, if that makes sense?
11:54ABro, you’re hitting the nail on the head. That’s the biggest question of 2026. Appreciate you, man.
11:59BYeah, yeah, that’s everybody. But I appreciate it.
12:02AAnd, um, oh, I used to have a podcast called We Them Niggas.
12:07BOh, we them niggas.
12:08AI’m asking people, we them niggas or nah?
12:11BWe them niggas or nah? Wait, wait, wait, that’s your podcast?
12:15AIt used to be. I used to have a podcast called We Them Niggas. Now my brand is We Them Media.
12:19BOh, We Them Media.
12:20ABut I’m asking, we them niggas or nah?
12:23BWe them niggas or we them media?
12:26ANo, no, no, no, it’s just we them niggas or nah. We -- it’s not really about --
12:30Boh, oh, it’s just a name you come -- you plan on maybe come up with.
12:33AI’m just asking people if they agree with that statement or not.
12:36BLike, I said yeah, I actually agree with this statement. I mean, I agree. I mean, like, as long as like you understand what that means to you and other people, like, oh, some people may say Wait, what? Like, we them niggas? What’s that? What that is? Until somebody else should take a look at it, especially depending on your description too.
12:54AOkay, so what -- say more about that.
12:57BWhat, a discussion?
12:58AYeah, yeah, like what has you say that? Like, say more about what you’re saying right now. Oh, I try and bring nuance to that conversation around the word. So yeah or nay, but then you can elaborate.
13:08BOkay, so what I mean by like description is like be detailed of Oh, what’s that podcast name? And what you delivering? Like, what’s your pitch? While during, like, is it gonna be a series? Like, how many, like, episodes you may go do on your podcast? How many people gonna be in your interview? Well, your show, that is.
13:29AAnd I don’t do it anymore.
13:30BOh, you don’t do it?
13:31AI just still say, you know, we them niggas. Oh, I’m asking people, we them niggas or not? Some people like, no, I don’t like that word. People like, yeah, I feel that. So it’s just like, does that resonate with you? But the show is like all those questions about the show. They’re kind of now I’m just Maceo. I do. I’m a journalist. So that’s how I started. I made I made over 100K off We Them Niggas.
13:48BSo oh okay, then you might as well just keep it. I’m saying that’s what I’m saying. If they make that much money, then you should just continue what you do.
13:56AOkay, so you’re pro We Them Niggas?
13:58BYeah.
13:58AOkay, I like that. We got a yay, not a nay. I like that. I like that. All right, man. You got any messages for the people?
14:04BMessage the people. I would say please be self-aware of who you get yourself involved to, because not only you’re gonna put yourself in danger, but look, but the people around you, that’s going to affect the conflict you got yourself into. So I would say keep hold faith to God, please.
14:28AAmen. All right, appreciate you, man.
