To quote this piece: “Racism or Southern hospitality? Two brothers from Texas,” We Them Media, filmed 2026-03-21, https://wethem.xyz/watch/racism-or-southern-hospitality-two-brothers-from-texas-denver. Each transcript line links to its second.

Denver, March 2026, in front of a graffiti wall, two brothers from Texas, engineers, one of whom lives here now. The question of the week is the biggest global issue. The older brother: “people just got to let people live. And, like, right now there’s a lot of people encroaching on other people’s shit.” The younger: “We’re so focused on what divides us That it causes so much conflict in the world,” and if people focused on what they have in common, “A lot of those issues would resolve themselves Maybe that’s an idealistic approach.”

Then Texas, and the piece finds its subject. The younger brother: “a lot of people will confuse Southern, like, hospitality with, like, everyone’s just, like, nice towards each other, but I don’t think that necessarily means that you’re fully accepted. in every single community in the” The older: “Southern hospitality sometimes is just like a means of like masking other issues” and “you grow up not white in the South,” and only later “you’re like, damn, that person was actually kind of racist.” The memory, from COVID: wearing a mask at a YMCA, harassed by a man who said masks spread the virus, clapping back, and being the one thrown out, “just for like standing on business.” Compared with the Northeast, where people are “randos on the street” but will not come at you like that. Unprompted, they place the format: “you remind me of Channel 5 News.”

The last question is what is Ethereum, and neither knows. “Yo, I don’t even know what that word means” So they reason from the word: “I’m assuming it corresponds to like ethereal,” something spiritual that binds people together, and then, “Ethereum is your experience, your human experience in the universe. It’s so uniquely you.” Maceo gives them the real answer at the end, and one of them admits he looked it up mid-sentence. Names were not given. Language is unfiltered. 0:00Ro: Oh yeah, we gotta get out the way.

0:01B: But we got this cool like graffiti back here. Yeah, my friend said I’m doing better, uh, Mazan-san or something like that. All right, um, what do you think is the biggest global issue in the world right now? And this is for Poyd and We Them Media.

0:23Ro: All right, all right. I mean, I think there’s a lot of shit. There’s a lot of shit going on in the world right now. It’s kind of hard to say what’s like the most like the biggest global issue. But I think fundamentally it comes down to people thinking other people’s business is their business, you know what I’m saying? Like, I think like people just got to let people live. And like right now there’s a lot of people encroaching on other people’s shit, right? And like there’s a lot going on. It’s like hard to sum that up, right? You know, it’s a crazy time to be living through.

0:48Gov: But I was going to say something similar. Like, I think just division in general, um, I think there’s so much That people focus on what’s different between people around them that causes that division. I think that, you know, if you focus a little bit more on things that we have in common and those things that bring us together, a lot of those issues would resolve themselves. Maybe that’s an idealistic approach to things, but I do think that a lot of times it comes down to just we’re so focused on what divides us that it causes so much conflict in the world and that, you know, it starts within person to person. within the nation, across nations. I think it goes beyond so many different levels that, you know, I think if we just took a step back and focused on what doesn’t divide us, things would be a lot better.

1:35B: Oh yeah. And are you from Denver? You live here?

1:40Ro: I live here. This is my little brother.

1:42Gov: He’s visiting from Texas. I’m from Texas.

1:42Ro: We’re both from Texas, but I live here now.

1:45B: Okay. What about in Texas? What do you feel like is like the biggest issue in Texas? Ooh.

1:50Gov: I guess I’ll -- I’m there more recently, right? I would probably say -- oh, that’s a tough one. Biggest issue in Texas? Acceptance. Like, I think that a lot of people will confuse Southern, like, hospitality with, like, everyone’s just, like, nice towards each other, but I don’t think that necessarily means that you’re fully accepted. in every single community in the South. And like, I think that’s something that like, especially in Texas, it’s like you pride yourself on being from Texas, but there’s a part of being Texan that’s like, there’s so many different identities and stuff that come from being there that I don’t think is fully accepted in the state itself. So I’d say probably acceptance is probably one of the biggest things that causes issues in the state.

2:44Ro: Yeah, I mean, shit, like I ain’t lived there in like 5 years, bro, but like, I think like To his point, like, Southern hospitality sometimes is just like a means of like masking other issues, right? Like, people like act like they’re all nice, but it’s like, yo, like, you grow up, you grow up not white in the South, right? It’s like sometimes you see shit and you don’t realize it when you’re a kid, but then you grow up and you’re like, damn, that person was actually kind of racist, you know what I’m saying? Like, I think, like, I think, you know, to his point, hold the mic up. I think to his point, like, There’s a lot of division and there’s a lot of lack of acceptance down in the South, and it’s kind of sometimes guys with like people being nice and shit, you know? Yeah, that’s what I said too.

3:26B: Is there like a particular vivid memory that shows up for you when you think about that? Like, I think that’s what you just came to is super sick. Like, talk about it.

3:33Ro: Yeah, I mean, that’s like what I want to create content, right?

3:36B: Like, what are the subversive --

3:37Ro: yeah, okay, shit, dude, you remind me of Channel 5 News. I don’t know if you fuck with Andrew Callaghan, baby. Yeah, All Gas No Brakes. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

3:47Gov: Yeah.

3:48Ro: No, I think journalism -- I think for me, I have a distinct memory. Yeah. Yeah. I think for me, I have like a distinct memory during COVID where it’s like, you know, we got an older brother. He’s a doctor. You know, we, we’re all engineers, right? So like, we’re like, you know, we believe in science, right? And like during COVID I have a very distinct memory where I was minding my own business at like a YMCA, just lifting. And this guy -- I was wearing a mask, right? And this guy starts like harassing me. And he’s like, yo, like, you know, masks spread more COVID. And I’m just like, bro, what? What do you mean spreads more COVID? Like, I don’t give a fuck. Wear your mask or don’t, right? Like, that’s whatever. That’s your choice.

4:29B: But like, don’t gaslight me. What do you mean?

4:31Ro: What do you mean spreads more COVID, right? So I’m first just minding my own business, but this guy won’t stop harassing me. And then eventually, you know, I kind of like go back on him and like, you know, one thing leads to another. I’m like, bro, you need to research blah, blah, blah, right? And then like, tell me why I got kicked out of the YMCA by the YMCA people.

4:48B: Right?

4:48Ro: Like, I was minding my own business. Guy started harassing me. I kind of clapped back, and then I got kicked out just for like standing on business. You know what I’m saying? Like, I think that was, and to me, I was like, I lived in the Northeast for a couple years at that point. I was just back home visiting, but like it was crazy. It was it was it was honestly kind of jarring. So I was like, dude, I like I had no desire to like get into this with you, but like you came at me, and then now I’m getting kicked out of this gym that I pay money for. Like, you know, like showing up to. So. It was weird. It was weird. After not living in Texas for a while, you know, like I’ve been in Denver for a bit now. Like, I think it’s, it’s, it’s nice. Like, it’s nice not being there because like, you know, like Northeast for you. I was in Maryland and Delaware for a while, Connecticut for a while, kind of all over. Oh, fuck yeah, dude. I spent a lot of time in Philly. Yeah. Yeah. Yo, Philly’s sick. Philly’s sick. I like Philly.

5:39B: But to your point, right?

5:40Ro: Yeah, right. It’s like, it’s just different, right? Like, you know, you lose the Southern hospitality. People are like kind of like randos on the street. They’re kind of assholes, but like They’re not like, you know, fundamentally gonna like come at you on some shit like that, right? Like, I think it’s weird. Like, I’ve lived all over the US and I think like every place has got its issues, but kind of is what it is. We just live in really divided times. Like, a lot of the media we consume -- I mean, like, I, I don’t know your channel, but you fuck with like All Gas No Brakes Channel 5. I like what they’re doing, right? Because like they’re just showing you how it is. And like, I think we see a lot of shit, right? And it’s hard to know like what’s real. These days, right? So I don’t know.

6:25B: So my last question, um, what, what is Ethereum?

6:29Ro: What is Ethereum? Fuck. Yo, I don’t even know what that word means.

6:35Gov: Ethereum. I mean, I’m assuming --

6:38Ro: take it. What is that word?

6:42Gov: We’re gonna ponder on this one. Um, I’m assuming it corresponds to like ethereal, and I think like, you know, that means like some sort of like transcendentalism. But, um, I mean, shit, I don’t know what it means per se, but if I had to give a guess, I think it does mean like transcending beyond the human body and like the spirit.

7:04B: Definitely.

7:05Gov: I think like, I think like it really does tie back to like more of a spiritual thing and like, um, I don’t know, I think like with that there’s so much that can bind us together spiritually that I’m assuming that ties back to I don’t know if that made any sense at all, but --

7:23Ro: The infinite garden. Yo, all right, all right, all right. Ethereum ain’t a word. I looked it up. So it’s off the dome. I think to me, Ethereum, right? Like you’re saying, like, that’s like the omnipresent. That’s like, what is it that like binds us all together, right? The human experience. And I think like, shit, like the hardship, like life’s a trip, right? I think you can’t have the ups without the downs, and you can’t have the downs without the ups. That’s what makes them ups and downs, right? Like, I think Ethereum is your experience, your human experience in the universe. It’s so uniquely you. And I think, like, you know, I don’t know what the fuck Ethereum actually means, but just like thinking about what the letters together and the word means to me, I think it’s like the uniqueness of the human experience and how that like We all have a crazy fucking life, but at the end of the day, we all living in the same planet, right? We living in the same timeline. Like, we’re all, we’re all seeing the same shit that’s happening, right? It’s crazy fucking time to live through, but like, at the end of the day, like, that’s what we have in common, right? It’s like, what’s life?

8:27B: Amen.

8:29Ro: Amen, bro.

8:30B: Well, Ethereum is the, is the number 2 blockchain after Bitcoin.

8:34Ro: Dude, that’s what I found. I was like, yo, that’s a blockchain? I was like, that ain’t gonna work. Yo, this is like sponsored by Cash App, bro. Sponsored by Cash App. You gotta bleep that out.

8:47B: I don’t care, I don’t care about Cash App.

8:50Ro: Hey, Cash App!

8:52B: But, but yeah, I, I’ve been traveling. I came here, there’s a big Ethereum conference here every year. It’s like a big tech conference, software engineers and shit. This is my third one coming out here. I’ve been around the world. I was in Asia for a couple months 2 years ago. I was in Africa last year for 4 months. Okay, so I haven’t been to LATAM yet, but I’m on my way. I’m on my way. And right now I’m just kind of stuck here in Denver because I’m broke as shit. But I guess this is my all-gas So I’m trying to get out here.

9:16Ro: You need the oversized suit, bro.

9:18B: Yeah, you know, my friend in New York, he’s like, I need to get a suit before I go out and do it. Like, what is this guy talking about? Just post the video. Like, but you’re right, you’re right. You gotta go.

9:25Ro: Yo, let me like, let us follow you on some shit, bro.

9:28B: Nah, fuck yeah. I appreciate it. My last question though, I actually had a last question ready.

9:31Ro: Oh, there’s another question.

9:31B: Is, do you have a question that you’d ask the world? Like, if you could query the world, like you query AI, what would you ask the world?

9:38Ro: What does it take to make you love your neighbor genuinely?

9:45Gov: Boom! That’s a tough one to follow up.

9:49Ro: Um, that’s tough.

9:54Gov: Um, like, my mind just goes to why. Like, I think, like, understanding the whys of people. I would just say, like, why Why do you do what you do? Why do you treat others the way you do? Why do you be the way you are? And I think just like more so for people to understand for themselves, if anything, I think digging down into that why really helps people clarify the things that they do. You know, understanding of if what they’re acting on is really true to themselves.

10:30Ro: Mm.

10:31B: Fuck yeah. And what were your names one more time?

10:33Ro: Uh, yo, my name’s Ro, like a rowboat.

10:36Gov: And then I’m Gov.

10:37B: Fuck yeah. Thank you guys.
