Two conversations in the line outside the Channel 5 Carnival in Denver. Aiden, Irish, on the Kneecap content, the Irish-language revival piece and how Callaghan got Shia LaBeouf to open up; and Britt, an aspiring journalist, on the one thing the host does that anyone could copy.

Aiden is in a hurry and talks fast. His favourite recent piece is the one on the “Revival of the Irish language,” and what Callaghan does well is get people comfortable enough to say things they maybe should not: “he knows how to interview people and get him to like open up feel comfortable like the whole Shia LaBeouf.” Asked what he would put to people around the world, he lands it in one line, twice: “Are we really going to settle for this Fucking program that we’re Being fed.”

Britt loves Channel 5 because “They’re real And they’re fun.” Her question for the world is the one this archive keeps hearing in different words: “What keeps them going? Shit’s dark I want to know what keeps people going.” For her it is gardening, and this week, “tulips are in bloom.” On what Callaghan does that others should take note of: “Listens, literally, that’s it I think that’s why he gets The most interesting conversations going Is because he literally can hear.”

On the biggest issue in the world she is honest about the size of the question, “it’s just not a very equitable world for anyone, you know?” The interviewer answers with the Nigeria report from the same week, twenty hours of electricity, and the line ends with the pair of them agreeing they are blessed to be standing in Denver at all. Filmed by Maceo.
