Landscape or portrait.
Eighty seconds at a Denver mall, on the way to the Channel 5 show, where two people with cameras meet and immediately film each other filming each other.
“You’ll film me, you’ll film me filming him. I’ll film you filming me.” That is the whole opening, and it holds. The argument that follows is the one every creator has had since phones turned sideways: landscape or portrait. “I’ve been doing primarily landscape, I put it all on YouTube,” says one. “I don’t care if they’re all landscape, if people care, they’ll watch it. I like landscape better. I think it looks better.” The counter, from the other side of the lens: on Instagram, “it kind of doesn’t show up that way, right?”
Nobody wins, both agree, and the piece ends with the more urgent question of the evening, where the venue is. Filmed by Maceo; the card on the release page says at the mall, and it is.
