A twenty-three-year-old waiting for a bus in Denver is asked what the most important global issue is. He answers in four words, and then says something more honest than the answer.
“Housing and finding jobs,” Johnny says. Asked what that looks like where he is: “I don’t really agree with it, but it’s like that everywhere now. But it is what it is. I don’t know how to really put it.”
Given room to say more, he lands on the thing the question was actually reaching for. “It’s hard. It’s hard to move around and find your path. That’s how it is for me. I’m young, so I’m just finding everything out now.”
Sixty-four seconds, and it is a complete answer. He is twenty-three. The person asking is twenty-six. Then his bus comes.
