0:00spots. Did you Did you grow up with pets? Yeah, most definitely. Okay. Yeah. I have a cat upstairs. She’s sweet. Hell yeah. All right. Well, sick. My name is Masea. Um I I’m founder of We Them Media. We Them Media is like it’s just thing I’ve just been doing kind of. But uh right now I’m looking at how can I kind of essentially get more people out in the street doing interviews like this so we can bring together real human perspectives on things. And
0:28that’s what’s up. Perspective is everything. Hell yeah. Hell yeah. Yeah. So what do you think about perspective? Like what makes you say that? Because I mean that’s what makes up everything. That’s like what makes everybody an individual, you know? If we didn’t have different perspectives, [bleeped] you know? We’d all just be one bland like robot pretty much milling the streets, you know?
0:45That’s true. We We’d be in the era of AI already, huh? Oh yeah. That’s sick. What’ you say? So what’s your name? Jenny. Hell yeah.
0:52Yeah. And so you say you’re from here in Denver, right? Yep. Born and raised. Born and raised. And so what do you think about the city and where the city’s at?
0:59Um, I think the city has gotten a lot weirder. Let’s put it that way. Not better, not worse. I don’t know. It’s boring. It used to be diverse. It used to be unique. And it’s a lot scarier.
1:11It’s a lot scarier. Yeah, it’s a lot scarier, honestly. Like I grew up I’ve been on the streets like off and on since I was like 13. Oh,
1:16yeah. You know, and I’ve been doing better lately, but like dude, like I’m afraid to walk around. Like I had some dude like try to rape me at the [bleeped] convention center at like 5:00 a.m. like 6 months ago.
1:24Yeah. That [bleeped] was scary as [bleeped] I’ve never I’ve never had to call the cops for some [bleeped] like that before. Ever. You know what I’m saying? And it’s like I couldn’t find my knife. I had a big bag of laundry on my back cuz I just done laundry at my home girl’s place.
1:35He just came out of nowhere. He just came up at me like he broke a glass bottle like that close to my head, dude. And was like, “How dare you dress like that? You know what you do to me, a [bleeped] whore?” And I’m like, “Whoa, dude.
1:45What the [bleeped] That shit’s crazy as fuck.“ Yeah. It’s terrifying. Yeah. I mean, like, at least back in the day, like, you know, if something like that happened, there would be somebody there. You know what I’m saying? Like, but lately people just don’t give a [bleeped] Even if there was somebody there, they wouldn’t have cared. You know what I mean? Like that.
2:00It’s how you get away from that guy. Um I [bleeped] I called the pose and they came and like he but he got on the same train as me. I thought he just dipped. No, he got on the same he got on the train going the opposite way.
2:11Yeah. And then he hopped on the one like at the stop before the one I was waiting at going the way that I was going. And he got off at the same stop as me like talking all kinds of [bleeped] and I was like, “What the fuck?” I got off at like the Broadway and I25 station and I walked up to one of the security guards and I was like, “Hey, can I just chill here for a second? Will you like not leave for a minute?”
2:29That’s Yeah. Well, happy International Women’s Day, huh? Right. Hell yeah. Hell yeah. They’re not including I know. Yeah, that shit’s ridiculous. All the construction over here on Colfax.
2:45Uhuh. What did she say about it? How it’s ridiculous. Like they’re just doing it for bus stops. It’s not even like a train or a trolley or nothing. It’s just Yeah, it’s just a waste of our resources.
2:54Huge waste. What do you think about the government here? Like, do they take care of people? Like, is it like um Well, like when I I got housing not too long ago and they didn’t tell me I didn’t get a voucher. They told me that they told me I had a voucher initially, but they gave me just an apartment. Like, it was a project based lease. So like and when I had I had a sprinkler malfunction in my apartment and when the pipes were frozen it backed up some water and it just started gushing in my living room one day and they blamed it on me and they straight up evicted me
3:22and like no I get no help from anybody because of that you know and it’s just it’s [bleeped] ridiculous. Like when I got initially into like the housing program that I got it through, it was like the I think it was like the governor or the mayor one one of the two he said like house a thousand people by the end of the year. You remember that a few years ago?
3:38I’m not from here. I’m from from Philly. I just I’m not here a couple weeks. Oh, hell yeah. Yeah. Well, the governor, I think it’s the governor, but he just took over and he was like, “Yo, we’re going to house a thousand people by the end of the year.” And he came damn close to it. And you’d think that like I was pregnant as [bleeped] when I got that housing. Okay. And there were five other chicks there that were pregnant other than me. And none of us got our housing in time to have our kids. Like my kids, like with my family now, and I haven’t
4:00even seen a picture of her since she was like 6 months old because I didn’t have an address to tell them that I could bring her back to. She didn’t have no drugs in her system, no nothing,
4:07just marijuana, you know, and they don’t take your kids for marijuana. But no, because I didn’t have an address to take her back to cuz there were registered sex offenders living at the hotel thing that they pushed us into.
4:17And you’d think that people like pregnant women would have gotten precedents over the people that got the vouchers, but there were a bunch of people that got vouchers that were like younger than me. And I’m 25. I’m pretty young, like younger than me. They didn’t have no [bleeped] kids. They didn’t have no pets even. Just they got vouchers for life. And I’m sitting here like, you know,
4:32when I got in trouble in Denver County, I only had to pay $50 fine rather than a couple thousand dollar fine. So, Denver County is okay for getting in trouble.
4:40Oh, yeah. Denver County is the best if you’re going to be doing shady [bleeped] I guess. Getting caught up being an idiot. If you have to sit in jail for any amount of time, Denver’s the way to go. But
4:50they’re just more lenient in their clients. They’re they’re nicer. They’re a lot nicer. Their jails are a lot better. I’ve like the longest I’ve been in jail is like two weeks, so I can’t really say [bleeped] But, you know.
4:59Mhm. Mhm. But I mean overall as a city like I feel like it’s deteriorated a lot from what it used to be. You know after weed became recreationally legal a [bleeped] [bleeped] ton of people moved here that just wanted to move here for weed and then after they settled down all of their family members moved here to be closer to family and now like god forbid it snowed. Like [bleeped] they’re leaving a little bit like house cost of [bleeped] rent is going down. Thank god but like I don’t know man. It’s just ridiculous to me.
5:28No I hear that. I’m I’m curious. Um, are you from Denver? No, I’m Philly. So, I’ve only been out here a couple weeks. I came out here and my car broke down. I drove and so I’m just kind of like
5:39floating. Yeah. So, I figure I might as well try something new. That’s what’s up. Hell yeah. And so, I’m kind of getting to know the city a little bit, talking to people, right? Walk around, talk to 100 people, then you you like know the city a lot a lot better.
5:51Breakfast at one of the oldest diners in Denver. Go to the Swift’s Breakfast House on Santa Fe. It’s in between 9th and 10th. Okay. Okay. For over 40 years, like all of them are closed.
6:00Okay. I appreciate that. The Breakfast King. Yeah. Yeah. The Breakfast King closed. The Denver Diner closed. Tom’s Diner closed. Cake House. All of it. They all closed.
6:08All of it’s gone. Except like if you go up in like north and that’s like McCoy’s is open. Yeah. McCoys and and Swiss, I think. And Yeah. And the Red Rooster.
6:17Yeah. That’s pretty much it. Oh, and the Butcher Block. You’re right. They’re expensive as [bleeped] They’re super expensive. If you’re into good food, diner food. Yeah, I’m into good food. That’s so I appreciate it. I
6:30It’s cheap. You want to come over and be in the video? No, you don’t want to be in the video. No, I hear it. I’m like, you’re saying all these things. I don’t know if you can hear.
6:36Can I buggy from you? It’s because I last one. We got to get I just bought a full pack. I don’t know what the [bleeped] I did with that.
6:43What’s it called? My um this guy. He has me kind He put up this this bounty essentially on the internet where you can ask questions to people and and the best answer most interesting video he’s g like $18. And so I’m trying to get that bounty.
6:56Hell yeah. Hell yeah. And so his question is like, do you think the internet has made it easier or harder to get access to the truth? So yeah, this is for
7:03PO. [bleeped] That’s a hard one to get access to the truth. It’s called Pixer. It didn’t happen. Like his his his app thing. Okay. It’s a good question.
7:12I think it’s made it a lot harder if you don’t know how to navigate it properly. Like my dude’s mom, she’s illiterate to technology. She’s like almost 60 and she’s just like like you could you could explain to her how to do something and she wouldn’t know. And like she’s gotten her Facebook hacked like four or five times like by clicking on links that people send her and [bleeped] and she’ll believe damn near anything that people post up on the on the internet you know and you could try to explain it to her and show her different things and she’ll be like what? No way. Like during like
7:37the Diddy trial and all that all those fake videos came out like of like people confessing his his atrocities at the trial. Like they ain’t going to release that [bleeped] for another like what like 5 years or something I think is like the limit on that [bleeped] And she was believing it. She was eating it up until we were like, you know, this all they say it at the beginning, it’s for entertainment purposes only. It’s not real.
7:54You know, I went to school with the girl with the Kobe Bryant thing. Oh, wow. She was in my school. We were in choir together.
7:59That’s crazy. Kate, but yeah, I think I think for the older generations, it’s definitely made it harder, you know, or people who aren’t that like technologically advanced, you know? I was born in 99, so like I was like when I grew up, I wasn’t allowed to have technology. My parents were strict as [bleeped] You know what I’m saying? But, you know, whenever I was finally able to have access to it on my own, like, yeah, I figured it out pretty easy, you know,
8:24like I’m part of that generation, I guess. But, you know, and then people will post [bleeped] anything anything in the world just to get people to look at it, just to try and get more views. You know what I’m saying? So, like,
8:34yeah, push the algorithm, make money. Yes. There’s a lot of [bleeped] falsehoods going around on the internet. That’s for sure. But I mean like if you know how to weed through and how to figure out what’s real or what’s not, like definitely it helps you access the truth a lot better. But it’s just a generational thing, you know, age group thing more so, I think.
8:53No, I hear that. I’m I’m I’m 26, too. I born 99. Hell yeah. When’s your birthday? December 22nd. I went December 14th. Oh, wow. Isn’t that crazy? You say you’re the 19th.
9:05Your son’s the 19th. I’m November 20th. Okay. We’re almost Capricorn. Almost Capricorn. I’m a Sagittarius. Yeah, we’re Sagittarius. Well, I guess I’m just wrong. No, my dude’s a Capricorn. He’s upstairs. Yeah.
9:17Okay. Sick. What’s it called? Um, what was the last thing? The last thing. Uh, how do you see like like having grown up here in Denver, how do you see the school system?
9:24The school system is shite. Shite. Like I I [bleeped] off my whole freshman year. I was selling weed. I was being a [bleeped] hoodlam. You know what I mean? And after I got caught up, I got a bunch of juvenile charges and [bleeped] Thankfully, they knocked it back because it was my first offense. Um I uh you know I went to an alternative high school for sophomore year and they got like six points throughout the year where you earn credits instead of just two like or three for terms or trimesters, you know.
9:51And I was going to graduate like right around my birthday actually, like right after my birthday in December of that year. And my dad, he like fractured my skull and broke all but like two of my ribs. And I was in the hospital for a minute, dude. My mom, she was like uh her phone number was blocked for their thing and she was banned from the property because he had a restraining order against him. get custody of me and they like so like it’s like their age range is like 13 to 32. They’re an alternative high school. You know what I’m saying? So they like if you don’t go
10:15no call no show in 90 days they delete your file and my mom couldn’t get a hold of them without getting arrested you know and I couldn’t go. I was like [bleeped] up. You know what I mean?
10:24And they deleted all my [bleeped] investigated to see where you were. No dude, not at all. And I had I have four credits as it sits. I dropped the [bleeped] out because they said I lost all my [bleeped] That so [bleeped]
10:33And like I had a free ride to everywhere but Reges cuz I’m banned from their property cuz they’re a bunch of stuck up [bleeped] But
10:39but you know I mean now I don’t got [bleeped] now. What the [bleeped] I don’t know. It like just fell. Yeah. But yeah, I don’t know. I feel like their school systems need a lot of work here. A lot, you know? Like because even before that, even before I was in high school, like they just taught me the same [bleeped] over and over and over again every year. It felt like it was so boring, you know? Like that’s why I started ditching in freshman year and I started [bleeped] off was because I was bored.
11:05I was so bored. Like you know and like I get like the no child left behind thing. They want to slow it down for the kids who are slower but like they should have like like independent learning plans for every kid. You know what I mean? Like
11:16go over a base general thing and if a kid’s doing better than some other kids, maybe move them to a class where they’re moving on to different [bleeped] you know?
11:22But yeah, that’s about it. Okay, word. Well, anything any advice for kids under the age of nine who are about to grow up in the world of AI?
11:31Um, don’t trust it. Don’t trust it entirely. I just seem so [bleeped] lengthy and learn to do some [bleeped] themselves because yeah, being able to do simple task is becoming lost art.
11:42It’s becoming very lost. People don’t know how to do jack diddly squat unless they Google it. A dough maker no more. They only have a machine that makes the dough.
11:49Really? Yeah. That’s absurd. Job is gone. Yeah. I don’t know. Good luck in finding jobs because the robots are taking them all. My brother, you know. Yeah, for real. He didn’t know how to work a screwdriver. He’s like your age almost.
12:03Oh my god. Yeah, he’s a little bit young. He’s 19, that’s a little gap. Yeah, just a little bit though. But still, it’s it’s [bleeped] crazy, man. I watched this video about how like they’re making like um like like robot companions. Like not like like nothing like sexual or nothing, but like like live comp life companions. They do your dishes, they cook for you and [bleeped] And they’re selling them. They’re like actually like a product that’s available to people who have a few grand to spend.
12:27And like that’s that’s insane to me. That’s absurd to me, dude. Like how the [bleeped] are you going to eliminate the social interaction with people? They’re already awkward enough if they want to buy that [bleeped] You know what I mean? They already got to be a little bit awkward at least if they’re going to buy that [bleeped] and waste their money on it. Like why? Why? I get like maybe like for like maid services exclusively, but like [bleeped] sake, just get a Roomba. I don’t know.
12:49Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Why are you going so hard? Yeah. That shit’s ridiculous. But yeah, that’s pretty much it. Hell yeah.
