Omar, walking Germantown with Maceo in May 2026, and starting over because he pressed a button by accident. “today we touched through Germantown grass,” and Germantown, where he spent a lot of his childhood, showed him something about the city. “what I’m seeing is that Philadelphia is very segregated,” in its peoples, cultures and identities, “but Germantown, I feel like it’s really that melting pot.” People “share the same cafe, share the same corner store,” and “You don’t really see that that much in Philly.”
The other thing is how easy it was to talk. “we just walk into somebody’s drumming studio, bro, shout out Jerry.” Jerry has a show at the Germantown library, June 2 at four, “they gonna do some killer jazz.” His last line is the whole piece: “big shout out Germantown.”
