Chasing Mavericks CEO on crypto creators.
The organiser of a Nairobi creator event explains the gap she built it to close: Africa has plenty of influencers in fintech and fashion and almost none in crypto. Filmed at Antler, Nairobi.
Sheila Wasa is CEO of Chasing Mavericks, which she describes as “a platform that powers blockchain innovation and adoption across Africa.” The event was the Bybit x Chasing Mavericks content creator mixer, and she is clear about why it needed to exist.
“The idea behind this is to create content creators on crypto, right, because we have few of those. We have influencers on fintech, we have influencers on fashion, but we have very little when it comes to crypto. So we are taking advantage of the many influencers that we have on TikTok, on Instagram, on X, and how they can be able to monetise.”
On who benefits from being early: “It’s open for everyone at the end of the day, but the more followers you have, the better. And I think it’s an opportunity where the early movers will reap the most, because it’s still very new.”
Filmed by Aziz, who opens the piece introducing himself by the name he goes by on the channel, Moto Moto.
