0:31BHow does this relate to crypto? I’m just playing.
0:34AI like that. I like that.
0:36BThis guy just won.
0:37AOkay. What does that mean?
0:38BHe wins a Valley node, $400 in value.
0:42AStop playing with it. Stacking. So tell us about Valley. Like, what is that? Like, I don’t know what’s going on right now.
0:47BAll right. So I own an arcade bar and I was looking for a way to get people who come into arcades to onboard onto Web3. Oh, should I plug this guy in?
0:58AYeah, yeah. It’s all connected now. So start with what’s your name?
1:01BOh, sorry. Hi, my name is Johnny, Johnny Coughlin, and I’m the founder and CEO of Valley Arcade Games.
1:09AYeah.
1:10BThis all started ’cause I own an arcade bar and was looking for a way to onboard patrons who know nothing about crypto or Web3 into the world and let them benefit by the rewards that you can potentially earn. So you go up to this arcade cabinet and you play. If you scan your score, then you earn something from it. You go straight to the bar, movie theater, bowling alley, shopping mall, and you can actually use what you earned for a free drink or a dollar off your pizza or a movie ticket. And then you’ve got a wallet auto-generated, first and third-party titles, trying to make it as seamless and easy as possible.
1:49ASo what does it mean to have a Valley node? Like this guy, he won a node, but how does that contribute to the network? What does the network run on that makes nodes relevant to arcade games?
1:56BExcellent question. So the node ecosystem that we are building out, we are -- it’s effectively a proof of play that we are building. Our development team is working hard so that These games are running on multiple nodes the same time that you’re playing them, and it’s effectively an anti-cheat, anti-bot protocol. That is what the nodes are doing. And by running the node, you can run it and then earn tickets, which for contributing to the network, those tickets are redeemable for VALORANT when we TGE.
2:27AOh, wow.
2:27BYeah. Or you can use them, you know, for skins and fun things like that too.
2:31AAll right.
2:31BYeah. Congratulations. Yeah, that was my first time playing an arcade game. That was your first time playing an arcade game?
2:37AYes. Locked in though. Man.
2:40BYou’re a natural, bro. Damn. Okay, we gotta get your information.
2:45AMost definitely.
2:46BYeah, unless there’s anything else that you wanted.
2:48ASo what do you feel like most people don’t get about crypto? Actually, what is crypto? I went to Times Square this morning to ask people there for their questions, and that was one of the main questions that they offered. I got videos of them too. And so I’m making a compilation video of their questions and people here’s answers.
3:02BRight. Like, for a non-technical person like myself, I think of it as digital money. Like, if you think about in 10 or 100 years from now, are we still gonna be using paper fiat money. I mean, we really don’t use that now. And then the next level is to be able to transact it incredibly easy, incredibly safe, because cryptocurrency makes it so that you can have much more secure realms to interact with.
3:27AOkay, I like that you said fiat. So what does it mean for one currency to be fiat versus currency that’s not fiat? I think that’s a big and relevant part of that conversation.
3:34BYeah, and I’m probably not the best person to ask. I mean, I think of fiat as a government-based -- You’re the perfect person to ask. Okay, yeah, government-based monetary. System. So for the United States, we use the US dollar. That to me is fiat. And with these arcade cabinets, we’re first going to have fiat going inside of them and then a rev share. So the player, Valley as a platform, the venue, and the third-party game developer rev share split that fiat. And then when we turn on the token, they’re already used to that system going up to the bar to get a dollar off their drink or a free burger. It just becomes all on-chain. So that’s the way to do it. We didn’t want to say world’s first Web3 arcade program arcade or crypto arcade. We wanted this to look and feel just like what people are used to. So we’re showing it to them instead of telling them.
4:23AScarlett there has some game ideas. She’s like moving fast.
4:26BOh, I’ve been talking to Scarlett for a while. She’s smart. Yeah, she’s keyed in. Yeah, she’s good.
4:32AI don’t have any ideas, but I have some game ideas for crypto. I said, okay, so you seem like a person we’re going to talk to sometimes.
4:37BShe’s a game dev too, and she didn’t tell me that either. But then we were like, well, you can easily onboard your game. And so being an arcade bar owner, there’s no current way to have a third-party game in an arcade cabinet unless, you know, have inroads to like Sega or Bandai Namco. So this is like a niche version of like Steam or Epic in a way, but for arcades. And you can also play these games mobile, PC, Mac. It’s the same leaderboard, same exact game. We really wanted -- the whole thing was we wanted to make this as seamless and easy as possible. People don’t read, right? We’ve got 16 draft beers at our arcade and people come up and we have all the signs and like, do you guys have draft beer? And we’re like, yes. We do. So, yeah. But I do the same thing, so I can’t complain.
5:23AAnd do you have a message for the builders?
5:26BIf you’re a game developer, or even if you’re not a game developer, go to valley.games, submit your game. And if you’re a player, start playing. It’s free. It’s really fun. Easy to play, hard to master games.
5:40AI like that. And where can we find you online? Your X, your Instagram, anything like that?
5:45BYeah. So the X, Twitter is Valley Ecosystem. Or if you go to www.valley.games, Valley dot games. You can find us.
5:53AAll right, hell yeah. Appreciate it, man.
5:54BGolden.
5:55AYeah. Say booyah. We get three two one booyah. Three two one booyah.
