Streamer University auditions: a message to East New York.

Outside the Streamer University auditions in New York, where hopefuls queued overnight for a place in Kai Cenat’s boot camp for creators, Ladonna from East New York is there for someone else. “I’m here to support my bestie. She’s a content creator.” Her friend arrived at three in the morning; Ladonna at nine. Asked whether she does anything creative herself: “No, I’m anti-social.”

She is from East New York, out past Bushwick, and has a view on the borough’s music. “Brooklyn right now is giving more so gang. Everything is more hood, affiliated and stuff like you don’t really see too much of R&B.” On what Kai Cenat has done: “I feel like Kai is giving people a chance. People that never get looked at because of the skin color and how they act. He’s giving them a chance to expand and be something great.” He could have done it anywhere, she says, “but he came to where he’s from which is New York.”

Her message to East New York: “don’t give up, even though we the most lettest, craziest, always misjudged, don’t give up, keep going, because the real ones come from New York.” And the Knicks: “I need the Knicks to win, for my stepfather.”
