Bayo, on his way to In the Same Room, the Pentecost Art Club event in Abuja, stops the club’s founder at the door: “We’re heading out right now for the Pentecost Art Club event called In the Same Room. How you feeling, brother?” The founder introduces himself as Pentecost the Preacher.
What the day is for, in his words: “teaching young professionals in different spheres of influences to be value-driven individuals in whatever sphere of influence that they find themselves.” Creators and non-creators alike are there to “lead with value”, because that is what shapes a culture and a nation.
Asked what success is, he does not hesitate: “It’s always, always about impact.” The people coming to speak have a track record of it, and that is the point of putting them in one room. His message to anyone watching: “you’re not here by mistake. You’re here for something. So you need to find that out and hit it hard.”
It ends with the tradition: Bayo explains that “it’s Maceo that does it too”, the founder spells booyah his own way, and they say it together on three.
