At a basketball game in New York, Philippe, originally from Lisbon, on why he is there: “for me it’s the best way to meet new people network is doing sports.” He has spent five years on Talent Protocol, “a platform to basically attract builder reputation so that ecosystems can find and reward the best builders and attract them to their ecosystem and to use their tech.”
Maceo says what he is after, “content that’s for people outside crypto,” and asks what those people are not getting. Philippe’s answer is about scale. “Just pigeonholing crypto into speculating and trading, it’s as if you would think the entire economy is just Wall Street trading and banks, there’s a lot more that adds value to the economy.” He sees “crypto and on-chain as like a new layer for the economy.”
What is ETH? “For me it’s a community first of all,” held together by “the values, the openness and the curiosity.” And his message for the builders: “don’t give up, keep building. You’ll eventually get the recognition you deserve.” His handle, spelled out, is one letter from Maceo’s name. “Pretty close.”
