What this site keeps about you. Almost nothing, on purpose.

wethem.xyz is a set of plain pages served by Cloudflare. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to log in to. We set no cookies, we run no advertising, and we do not sell or share anything about readers with anybody.

1. •Counting visits. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page loads. Cloudflare says it uses no cookies and does not fingerprint readers; what we get back is totals: visits per day, the most read pages, and the countries they came from. We cannot see who anyone is, and we would not want to.
2. •The host. To deliver a page Cloudflare handles your IP address the way any host does. Its own privacy policy covers that.
3. •The typefaces. The fonts load from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google's servers for them and Google sees that request. Google's privacy policy applies to it.
4. •Things remembered on your device. A few pages (the weekly board, One Question, the filming guide) keep a small note in your own browser's storage so a card you ticked stays ticked. It never leaves your device and we never see it.
5. •Search. Searching the transcripts happens inside your browser, against an index the page already downloaded. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Every video on this site lives on our YouTube channel. A page shows a still image until you press play. From that moment YouTube's embedded player loads from youtube.com, and YouTube's own cookies, privacy policy and Terms of Service apply, the same as they would on YouTube itself. Nothing loads from YouTube before you press play.

Every page has a "something wrong here?" form, because the transcripts are made by a machine and the people in the videos are the ones who can catch its mistakes. Nothing happens until you open it.

1. 1What it sends. Your correction, the address and title of the page it came from, the moment in the transcript if you clicked one first, and, only if you fill them in, a name and a way to reply. Both are blank by default and the form works without them.
2. 2What we store. Those fields, the time it arrived, and the country Cloudflare says the request came from. Your IP address is not written to the record. To stop floods the form keeps a count per sender for up to two hours, keyed on a scrambled version of the address, and then forgets it.
3. 3What happens to it. An editor reads it. Nothing a reader sends changes the site on its own; a correction is checked against the tape and then applied or declined by a person. A reply address is used to reply about that correction and for nothing else. If you want a correction you sent deleted, email us and it goes.

1. •The Dispatch is sent through Beehiiv. Subscribing happens on Beehiiv's page under Beehiiv's privacy policy. We see the list of subscribers there and use it to send the newsletter; that is all it is used for, and every issue has an unsubscribe link.
2. •Discord, X, Instagram, TikTok, Zora, poidh and Fractured Atlas are links to other people's services. What you do there is between you and them, under their policies. Donations run through Fractured Atlas and Giveth; this site never sees a card number.
3. •The Collect button on the onchain pages talks only to the wallet already in your browser, and only when you press it. The page never sees a key or a seed phrase and never asks for one; the transaction is signed inside your wallet. If there is no wallet in the browser the button does nothing and the Zora link next to it works instead. Blockchains are public, so a mint is public.

That holds for anybody in a We Them Media video, whenever it was filmed and whoever filmed it, and it covers the transcript and the page as well as the video.

The transcripts on these pages are made by speech-recognition software and each one says which. They are wrong sometimes; that is what the correction form is for. How AI is and is not used on this site is disclosed on the mission page.

We Them Media runs a small program on our own computer that uses YouTube API Services (the YouTube Data API) to keep our channel, @WeThemMediaHQ, in step with this site. It is not a product anybody else uses. It signs in with Google to our own account, and to nobody else's, so the only YouTube data it ever touches is our own channel's.

1. •What it reads. The list of videos on our channel and each one's current title, description, tags, language, privacy setting and length.
2. •What it writes. Titles, descriptions and tags we drafted from the transcripts; caption files we made from the same transcripts; the public playlists that mirror the question pages here; and thumbnails. Every one of those is ours, on our own videos.
3. •What it never touches. Viewers, comments, subscribers, watch history, or any other channel. Nobody but the channel owner signs in to it, so it holds no data about any other person.
4. •Where that lives. A copy of our own videos' metadata is kept on our own computer, refreshed each time the program runs, and it is what this site is built from. The sign-in token is stored on that computer and nowhere else; it is never on this website. No YouTube data about any other user is collected, stored or shared.
5. •Turning it off. The channel owner can revoke the program's access at any time on the Google security settings page, and deleting its token file signs it out.

Because it uses YouTube API Services, we are bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's privacy policy governs what Google does with the sign-in. The embedded players on this site are also YouTube API Services; by using them you agree to those same YouTube terms.

There is nothing to agree to in order to read this site. The videos are on YouTube under YouTube's terms. The writing on these pages is ours, or a contributor's, with their name on it; ask before reusing it and we will almost always say yes. Nothing here is legal, financial or medical advice.
