What this is, how it runs, and what we are asking for.

Everything on this page comes from the record or from a dated file, not from a pitch deck. The numbers are counted from the archive. The chart is drawn from the channel’s real publish dates. If a figure here disagrees with a figure anywhere else on the site, the site is wrong and this page is right, and I want to know.

The model, in two sentences.

Editorial: We Them Media

Street journalism and builder interviews from 16 countries, published free with the transcript and no advertising. Paid for by monthly supporters through Fractured Atlas (our fiscal sponsor) and by bounties that fund specific stories.

Commercial: We Them Worldwide LLC

Commissioned production for brands and events, executed with SuperBio, our production partner in Abuja. Same network, a different product, and a separation we enforce: funding does not direct the editorial work, and the standards say so in public.

Cadence.

Public videos published on the channel per month, the last eighteen months. 178 in the last 90 days, 541 in the last twelve months. The spring of 2026 is the Denver and Philadelphia street work. The summer is ETH Global, the Channel 5 carnival, and the first contributors filing from their own cities.

Who has paid for this so far, on tape.

No institution has funded We Them Media yet. Everything below is a person, a DAO vote, or a bounty, and each one is said out loud in a piece on this site, quoted from the transcript and linked to the second. The pattern is the pitch: small money, put up by people who wanted a specific thing filmed, and the thing got filmed.

Friends with Benefits

The ETH Denver 2024 interview series, by member vote on a proposal; the camera and the tripod.

“Shout out to FWB, everybody who voted for me to come out here and work on this project.” Maceo, ETH Denver 2024 · the piece · at 0:00

“Huge shout out to Friends with Benefits for getting me this camera, for getting me this tripod.” Maceo, Abuja · the piece · at 11:05

C.Y. Lee, patron and executive producer

Executive producer of We Them Media’s work through 2025, every video made before January 2026, the 2025 Nigeria series among them. His funding paid for travel to more than twelve blockchain conferences in eight countries.

“with funding from CY, my patron I’ve been able to travel to more than 12 different blockchain conferences, events around the globe, eight different countries now” Maceo, Abuja · the piece · at 4:03

Donna Dalton and Aja Davis, supporting patrons

The 2025 Nigeria series (Daniel, Ánesi, Patience), credited on the episodes.

poidh, with Kenny

The weekly video-journalism contest, spring 2026: $100 a week to the best film of strangers answering the question of the week.

“And we have $100 for our favorite one, myself and Kenny, founder of poidh” Maceo, Denver · the piece · at 0:00

The Pizza Day 2026 bounty

Twenty-three names put $560 on the sixth annual Bitcoin Pizza Day coverage; $535 went to the winner, picked live.

An ENS airdrop

The first money: the airdrop that started the podcast, and the network it was spent on.

“I got into the crypto space because my roommate told me to buy an ENS domain. I got like an airdrop and I was like, I’m gonna start my podcast.” Maceo, Abuja · the piece · at 9:26

Monthly supporters, 8 people at $178 a month as of September 29, 2026, are the running version of the same pattern, the supporter page names the founding ones.

What the money is for.

Wages first: contributors are paid for the work, and the goal on tape is a paid contributor in every country where we have a supporter. Then the archive: transcription, the pages, the open dataset. Then reach: the Weekly Connect, the newsletter, and the season releases. The supporter page shows the running total and what each level covers, State of the network has the quarter.

The ask.

Advisors: two or three people who have run a newsroom, a community institution, or a media business, for a monthly hour and honest notes. Partners: institutions in the cities we film in who want their community documented on its own terms. Funds: the conversation about what a community-owned archive is worth when the footage is the product and the people in it are the owners. Write to wethem.xyz@gmail.com, I answer it myself. The four-minute version of all this is on Start here.

Keep this going

8 supporters at $178 a month pay for this work, on the way to $1,000 a month. 61 people have been asked One Question on camera. This season's campaign runs to Thursday 10 December.
