Dwayne Wong (Omowale), whom the host called a great thinker, author and activist, joined Wise The Dome TV for a long interview on race and the left. The host asked him about white leftists online who call Black nationalist and Pan-African movements mere appeals to the bourgeoisie. Dwayne traced the charge back to Marcus Garvey’s era, when white leftists compared Garvey to Hitler. He said Garvey opposed racial oppression by any group, and that later Pan-Africanists who embraced socialism, such as Walter Rodney, still put race first.
They also discussed the online groups FBA and ADOS. Dwayne said the two follow different leaders but repeat the same arguments, and that Tariq Nasheed has misstated the historical records of Garvey and Malcolm X. On AFRICOM, he called it a form of neocolonialism: the United States trains African soldiers in the name of security, and some of those soldiers have gone on to lead coups or serve dictatorships.
