Dwayne Wong (Omowale) was a guest on the Rise Up Morning Show, a program on the Black Power Media channel, interviewed by hosts Isaac, Raqim, Fernando and Kiana. Before he joined, the hosts discussed Elon Musk activating Starlink service in Iran during a government blackout, calling it a Trojan horse for cyber warfare rather than goodwill.
Dwayne discussed Togo, where he has worked since 2017. He described Togo as home to Africa’s oldest neocolonial military dictatorship, a family dynasty in power 58 years under President Faure Gnassingbé. He covered the 2017-2018 protests demanding Gnassingbé’s removal, the later ban on protests, and new protests planned for June 25 to 27 over the jailed rapper Amran.
