How We Work.

We Them Media is a citizen-built news network. We connect Africa and North America, one conversation at a time. This is how we work.

We ask first.

Everyone you see or hear in our work was asked, on camera, if we could share their words, and told what the piece is for. If someone changes their mind, tell us and we take it down. We do not film people who do not know they are being filmed.

We use their own words.

What a person says is what we publish, in their voice. We do not put words in anyone’s mouth. We do not state a claim about a named person that we cannot show on the recording.

We say who paid.

If a company or person pays us to make something, it says “Sponsored by” and their name on the screen and in the first line, and it sits in its own series, apart from our reporting. If we have a money interest in what we cover, we say so. Anyone who is interviewed is never paid for their answer.

We fix mistakes in the open.

If we get something wrong, we correct it fast and say what changed. Write to wethem.xyz@gmail.com to ask for a correction or to take back your consent. We answer within 48 hours, and every correction goes in a log.

We protect people.

We take extra care with children, with people who could be hurt by being named, and with anyone who asks for privacy. A person’s safety comes before a good clip.

We let you in.

Anyone can send a question or film an interview. Before we publish an entry we check the original file, the date, the place, and that the person said yes.

What we do not do.

  • We do not create fake urgency to get you to act.
  • We do not stir up a fight about a named person to get comments.
  • We do not hide a sponsor.
  • We do not publish a quote we cannot show.

Keep this going
