0:00A: Greenwood’s destroyed?
0:01B: A lot of it. A lot of it.
0:03A: People don’t know what Greenwood is. Talk about Greenwood. I’ve seen them, but I don’t know too much. But I’m surprised to hear that.
0:07B: Yeah. So like, like in a lot of these places. So let’s just take -- I forget if it’s North or South Carolina, but we were doing very well politically. You had Black senators, you had Black House representatives, and we were thriving. Well, they didn’t like the fact that so many Black people were in power. And so you had a coup that came in and they were like, hey, we’re going to kill all of you. We’re going to destroy you. And it took like 80-something years. Like, do your research. It took like 80-something years.
0:36A: No worries. We’ll fact-check on the video.
0:38B: Yeah, fact-check it, please. I might be off on the years, but --
0:41A: It’s okay. Your testimony is what counts.
0:44B: Yeah. It took a very long time to have another Black person in government in that Carolina. And that’s because there was a coup. So when we talk about, wow, we’re making progress, are we really? Because we had this a long time ago.
