0:01A: That’s a dope-ass cam she did. Simple too.

0:05B: Which one?

0:06A: This little camera setup. I like that. Yeah, it’s super smooth, right? That shit tight.

0:09B: It’s the DJI Osmo Pocket 3.

0:11A: That shit hot.

0:12B: So what’s up everybody, I’m Maseya. We’re out here at the High Times local event and I’m here with

0:16A: Ricky. Ricky Bobby.

0:18B: Ricky Bobby. So what brought you out to the event tonight?

0:20A: Shit, just having a good time. Friends, watch some good hip-hop, listen to good music. That’s about it.

0:26B: Yeah, so, so what do you think about Wu-Tang? What do you think about Talib? How was that?

0:30A: It’s the birth, bro. It’s the birth of hip-hop. It’s what created the music, the soul. It’s what brought jazz and R&B and everything together to make good beats, samples, to get everybody all together. It’s culture. It’s all culture, man.

0:43B: So you’re a huge hip-hop fan?

0:44A: Oh yeah, oh yeah. I got Wu-Tang on me, tattooed up. Beatles, Doors, Pink Floyd. That’s Zappa. Love music.

0:52B: Okay.

0:53A: Music communicates to

0:54B: everybody. Okay. Hell yeah. Hell yeah. So how much do you know about High Times?

0:58A: Honestly, not much, bro. It’s my first time coming here. Came with my buddy, and, you know, it’s a great experience so far.

1:04B: Okay. Okay.

1:05A: It’s fucking awesome.

1:06B: Okay. You’re a DJ?

1:08A: No, no, no. Just, just kicking it, dude.

1:12B: Just kicking it.

1:12A: Yeah, I just do art in general, tattoos and whatnot.

1:15B: Okay.

1:16A: Yup.

1:16B: So talk about your art.

1:17A: It’s a little rugged, a little urban type shit, like Ralph Steadman, like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas type of OG splatter ink and whatnot. But, you know, I tattoo here and there. It’s just a little hobby and whatnot. But I love art in general. Art communicates with -- through the eyes, soul, people, gets everyone together. So, yeah.

1:38B: What do you think about the state of art, like, as an industry, as a practice, as, like, a profession? It’s hard.

1:44A: It’s definitely hard because everybody has that artistic side to them, like you. But, you know, it’s Kinda hard to get them views. Kinda hard to get people to see what you’re trying to do. Especially what you’re trying to provide and give out to the world. Some people might be like, that’s shit, or that’s demonic or dark or something. Some people will be like, that’s very light, that’s very happy, it makes me feel good. But you know, with art, dude, it’s a hit or miss, man. You gotta have good communication, good people skills.

2:14B: That’s

2:14A: true. And just gotta meet, just gotta go out, gotta push, strive. Strive till you can’t.

2:20B: What do you think about being an artist here in Denver? Good vibes?

2:23A: Honestly, I’m from the Springs though, so --

2:26B: Okay.

2:26A: Denver art, I’ll always support it, always love it, give everyone my 100%.

2:31B: What about Colorado Springs? What’s the art scene there like?

2:33A: Uh,

2:34B: this community?

2:35A: Yeah, it’s just simple, same thing, you know. But honestly, with Colorado Springs, everybody wants to kind of beef with each other of, I’m better than you, I’m -- I got this, I got that better. But in general, they don’t see the outcome of what they’re doing. They’re making music for the people. So instead of just being like, I’m better than your ass, like, I can hold a camera and be like, I can do this shit. But no, support. It’s all about support.

3:00B: Yeah, yeah.

3:00A: Literally.

3:01B: Yeah.

3:02A: People just are kind of too scared to click that link, hit that subscribe button.

3:06B: I hear that. I hear that. So are you building community out there at all?

3:10A: Oh yeah. Since I’m type 1 diabetic, I’m building that community up, being the person to be like, You can play instruments being sick as hell. You can paint, you can draw, you can whatever you want.

3:21B: So what does it mean to be type 1 diabetic? Like, paint that picture for me.

3:23A: So I wear a pump. It’s fucky, but I got an insulin pump. It’s connected to me 24/7. If, you know, I get too sick, blood sugar’s high, fucking in the hospital. If it goes low, dizzy, seizure.

3:39B: How often does it happen though? How often does it exactly --

3:41A: It depends. If you’re a responsible one, eat healthy, do what you gotta do, perfect. It’s perfect.

3:47B: Okay, where do you land on that spectrum?

3:49A: Honestly, I can cheat here and there though. I can cheat. Yeah, don’t test me with my taffies, bro. Yeah, Laffy Taffy. Don’t test me with my taffy game, bro, or my gummies. Shit.

4:00B: Yeah, other than that, I got some gummies in my backpack.

4:02A: I eat healthy.

4:03B: I have a gummy problem.

4:04A: Oh, me too. Yeah, I got Gushers in the whip right now. Yeah, shit. On God, bro. The fuck? Come on, Gushers and Fruit Roll-Ups just in case. Yeah, shit.

4:11B: Sometimes I just ball up Fruit Roll-Ups and eat like way more than I ever should.

4:13A: You gotta roll up a blunt like that, yo.

4:15B: Yeah, ridiculous.

4:17A: Yeah, but it tastes fire. I don’t give a fuck.

4:19B: But that’s how they got us.

4:21A: Exactly, bro. Exactly. The sugar. Sugar. Fuck. Love it. Corn syrup.

4:28B: So what do you think about the cannabis industry?

4:29A: Oh, I smoke weed. I love it. It’s great. It’s great. Sometimes, you know, I’m the type of weed smoker where I don’t really give a fuck if it’s indica, sativa, or hybrids. It grew from Earth. Grew from this planet. Just enjoy it and smoke it.

4:43B: You don’t get tired, though? I feel like indica definitely is like my -- the last thing I want at noon.

4:48A: I was gonna say, I don’t get really tired. Nah. Nah, I don’t get tired. Just chill out, watch shit. Lately I’ve been on fucking Amazon Prime, so watching The Boys, getting ready for that shit.

4:58B: Hell yeah.

4:59A: Hell yeah, brother.

4:59B: Well, it’s nice to meet you.

5:00A: It’s nice to meet you, pimp. Keep that shit going.

5:02B: I appreciate it.

5:03A: Follow my boy, follow my boy. You don’t even know about that shit, boy. Denver.

5:06B: Hell yeah.
