0:00There’s an evolution of homeschooling called unschooling, which is where your kids don’t do any traditional curriculum, any traditional studying. There is studying involved. You do have times where you sit down on Khan Academy, Duolingo, things like that, and do spend time actively studying. But generally, unschooling is having your kids learn through life experience, which is what my mom did raising us instead of having us take a science class she would take us out to the museum to the zoo to actually see shit and we were raised half in the United States and half in Costa Rica so we grew up learning Spanish, we grew up socializing, we grew up seeing the world and learning about
0:49different cultures. Can you speak Spanish? Yeah. Okay. Can I speak Spanish? Go ahead. And for that reason, we were never in a formal school, but maybe we were learning. We were always learning about the culture, the countries, the world, the different people.
1:34But it’s, yeah, it’s just, you know, it’s a different way of being raised, and I’m glad I was raised that way, instead of going to the schools, School System in the States, because honestly the schooling system here is fucking terrible. So I would rather have been raised not going to school here and dealing with not really having a lot of people around me growing up than going to school here and dealing with the shitty ass system that the United States uses, because I did go to school for 6th grade in Costa Rica, and the system over there is so much better. You have four classes a day, each are an hour long and between each class you get a half-hour break
2:16So you actually have time to socialize and hang out with your friends and chill and then when it comes time to be in class You want to because you’ve had your time to chill and you’ve had your time to interact with people So once they actually put you in that class you soak up the information better I didn’t speak Spanish when I was going to school in Costa Rica, so I was guessing on everything But if I did speak Spanish at that time, I’m sure I would have been very very invested in my classes Hell yeah You know, that’s interesting, I feel like I’ve been meeting more people that surprisingly speak Spanish here than any other city I’ve been in, frankly
