Onchain science, proof of knowledge: DeSci World.

Thirty minutes at the DeSci Summit on the University of Colorado Denver campus, the last day of ETH Denver 2024, with the two people running it. Maceo got there by chance: “somebody talked to my girlfriend, was like, oh, you’re in clinical research? You gotta come.” Dr. Jelani Clarke and Josh Bates of DeSci World explain what they built. The summit “has been being planned since, I think, October,” as “a democratic organization” that delegates to the community, “which is both sometimes great and other times not so great.” Five days of events, and at the same time a hacker house where “Jelani, myself, and 22 other people have actually been hacking” on “what we’re calling the interoperable DeSci stack.”

How each got here. Josh: “I was living in China for a number of years and I wanted to send some money home to my family. So I used crypto to do so,” then full-time crypto in 2020 and DeSci World in 2021. Jelani has “a PhD in neuroimmunology,” worked in biotech, and left academia over “the bureaucracy and the red tape.” His comparison is to the music business: “Scientists in academia predominantly operate under a 360 deal type architecture where you don’t own much of what you publish.” So he “just looked up blockchain and DeSci, blockchain and science, and that led me down the rabbit hole.”

On money, Josh is blunt. “People are not altruistic,” so DeSci builds incentives around giving. He bootstrapped the project himself: “I’m lucky enough to have made some good trades during the bull market of 2020,” and his advice to anyone raising is to “crowdsource from people with aligned values rather than through sort of VCs.” Jelani lays out the pillars beyond funding: “frameworks of ownership, data management, access, publication,” and the 23andMe example, where you sign your genetics away and “someone else can’t go and sell it for a profit” under the structures they are building. Is DeSci science on the blockchain? “Josh said yes, I say no.” It is a product of the open science movement: “a progression of science back to its original state, where anybody who wants to participate” can.

The history: “I was here three years ago to the day,” in “the DCI house,” where people who have since raised millions first met. Then the present, “the adoption phase,” their podcast DeSci Rising, and the hacker house workshops, twenty of them, where “it’s like, now I’m going to share what I’m doing” instead of pitching. Josh describes Proof of Knowledge, “a unified data layer That allows you to create knowledge and attest to it on-chain,” where “When your knowledge is utilized by an LLM, you’re paid for the utilization,” and the partnership with Lemonade Social. Jelani sees two paradigms, grassroots DeSci and enterprise DeSci integrating with “the Pfizer and the universities and the biobanks,” and says of the second, “that’s really what’s going to drive adoption.”

The year ahead: DeSci.World V2, Oxford, seven countries in Asia, “staying in Zanzibar for an entire month, trialing proof of knowledge as a coordination framework for a network state.” Josh’s closing: “Desai is just as much a cultural movement as it is a technological movement.” And Jelani’s, to the camera: “we need you as much as you need us,” whether you are a neuroimmunologist or “a degen.” Maceo admits it is only his second formal interview of the week. 0:00Well, hello, everyone, and welcome to another episode of We Them Niggas. We’re out here at ETH Denver, and we’re connecting with people of color and people building in the Web3 space, trying to better understand what’s important, what’s pressing, and what people are caring about. And so I’m excited to have both of you here. Thank you, Jelani. Thank you, Josh. Today we were at the, you guys’ event for DeSci World, the DeSci Summit. Like, very much by chance, last night, somebody talked to my girlfriend, was like, oh, you’re in clinical research? You gotta come. This is gonna be the best day of your life. And I’m like, okay, like, we’re gonna be there.

0:30And so here we are and I’m I mean, I’ve definitely learned stuff today and it’s been cool to hear about what’s been saying to my girlfriend, being that she’s way more of a I’m not a scientist, I wouldn’t say. And so that’s been cool. And I’m curious to hear how the past this is day five of the summit, how the past five days been for you two and what were like the I don’t know, when did you start planning this? Like, I don’t even know what day this actually is for you two of the DeSci summit.

0:54So the DeSci Summit has been being planned since, I think, October is when we started to kick this off. We take the approach with this particular conference to make it democratic, so a democratic organization. You do have specific leads, so myself, Shadi Eldamati, and Jonathan Starr, who are leads of their own respective projects, are kind of leading the initiative. So we put together a lot of the frameworks, we place the speakers, choose the speakers, and all that kind of stuff. But we try to delegate to the community and get community feedback throughout every step of the process, which is both sometimes great and other times not so great.

1:31It can stifle a lot of progress at certain instances, but we really want to make the DeSci Summit as kind of a landmark DeSci event throughout the year, one that is really open to the community to participate in. Yeah, we’ve been at the DeSci Summit for, I think, five days now. There’s been five days in a row consecutively of events. This is the culmination event at the university, but there’s been four before this. We’re at Protocol Labs and DeSci Labs, but we at DeSci World, Jelani, myself, and 22 other people have actually been hacking at a hacker house since the 19th. Today is the 29th, so 10 days and we have four days left, three days left. And so it’s been quite an experience for us. It’s our first ever hacker house, you know, a massive house, 20 beds in it or 18 beds in it or whatever.

2:14Loads of people getting together to build what we’re calling the interoperable DeSci stack Which is all the tools that are going to be utilized to make DeSci happen And to let other people in to use the DeSci ecosystem That makes a lot of sense And I’d love to hear the two of you share how you got into Web3 space Or into the world of science How did you come to be here at the people at the helm of DeSci world? Yeah, so I’m one of the sort of more DeFi-facing people in DeFi, you could say. I started my career in crypto in DeFi. I was living in China for a number of years and I wanted to send some money home to my family. So I used crypto to do so, got into the crypto world, dove headfirst in, left China, went full-time crypto in 2020 and started DeFi World in 2021 off the back of the COVID epidemic.

3:05There was some very obvious cracks in the system, some very obvious cracks in narrative control, especially around research. And so I decided that DeFi could be used for science, the funding mechanisms in particular, started DeFi World. And then about six months into that journey, put out a call to action to anyone that wanted to help build this project and build this mission. And then that’s when I met Jelani.

3:31Yeah. So, sorry, so I come from a more scientific background. So I have a PhD in neuroimmunology, worked in biotech for a few years and obviously was in academia for years before that. I started my journey in the Web3 space from an investment perspective, DeFi, going down that rabbit hole. But at the same time, I was also at a point around the COVID pandemic where I was starting to see, like, what are better ways for us to be able to do science? I decided not to pursue a career in academia as a professor or a PI because of all the loopholes and the bureaucracy and the red tape and all the challenges that exist for a scientist

4:06within that realm. And that is something that I was likening to the 360 deal, right? Scientists in academia predominantly operate under a 360 deal type architecture where you don’t own much of what you publish, institutions and those who are above you own that, you don’t really get a say, and you’re So you’re not really at liberty to pursue the science that you necessarily want to pursue. It’s more you got to pay the bills. And that’s really what pigeonholes your innovation. So I didn’t want to operate in that. Jumped out of that when I got my PhD, worked in biotech. And that was an interesting experience. What you see is that though the problems are different, the architecture or the type of problems still exist. Science cannot move forward because at the end of the day, it’s a bottom line that is pervasive within that realm. And that’s okay. But it oftentimes limits what can be done.

4:53and it holds scientists pigeon-held. And so the ethos of Web3, the ethos of DeFi in terms of trying to find alternative ways to either complement or combat these architectures that pigeon-holed was very attractive to me. And it almost seemed like it was, I didn’t understand why it hadn’t percolated its way into the scientific realm. And so I think very briefly, I just looked up blockchain and DeSci, blockchain and science, and that led me down the rabbit hole to the very early stages of this movement. movement, right? And I just kind of jumped ahead at first, and I left biotech, ended up leaving biotech, starting working full-time with Josh at building out DeSci World, which started off as a more

5:34social awareness dissemination platform, aggregating communities, aggregating information for people who are interested in DeSci so that they could understand what was happening in the space, and then we’ve since continued those in terms of organizing conferences, and we have our own conference series that we put on around the world with academic institutions, more out of the Web3 space, more for the actual scientists and science curious. And then we have since started to transition into building a technical infrastructure that also aggregates and pulls together knowledge and also the variety of different DeSci tools that have been maturing over the last two years. That’s incredible. And so it sounds like being a futurist, the two of you,

6:11you were like, ah, this is the natural progression, sounds like you’re saying, of science. And thus, you did the Google search and made your way. And so what did it look like two and a half years ago? And who are the people that you saw getting involved in DeSci How do you even find funding? You’re like, oh, I went full-time into this thing. And I know you’re talking about DeFi potentially being a funding mechanism. And that’s really what excites me a lot about this Web3 space is how can it be a way to finance social change? It’s a big thing that I’m interested in. Yeah. So the DeFi aspects of DeSci thinking, right, there’s a lot of money out there. Let’s put it towards science or towards social change, for example. It is a really attractive and sort of obvious offer, but it’s actually much more difficult than you’d expect.

6:50People are not altruistic and when they’re making crazy money in the bull run, no one wants to sell, no one wants to give money to these organizations for social good, for science, there needs to be some kind of incentive. Unfortunately, we live in that kind of world where everybody wants something for what they have. And so using DeFi for using, let’s just say using blockchain, using Web3, using decentralized sources of finance for DeSci, for social good, it really is possible. But the beautiful thing is that you can create an incentive mechanism around it So that someone gets something in return for their altruism And so this is kind of the guiding ideology behind a lot of what DeSci is doing

7:29Is how can I provide a platform that gets money to scientists Gets money to the social change or to whatever we need it to go to But also provides a value to those people that provide the money And so that’s kind of the guiding ethos of what a lot of us are doing Is using Web3 as an incentive mechanism to get that To answer your original question like how do you get funding to start something like this, like I’ll be totally honest with you, it’s difficult, right, you have two options, you either raise or you have personal funding, I’m lucky enough to have made some good trades during the bull market of 2020 that I had enough to provide for the bootstrapping of this project, like that was where all of my sales went to, was into funding DeSci World, and so I think it’s incredible.

8:10Yeah, thank God, honestly, really, because I probably wouldn’t have sold anything anyways, because, you know, who wants to sell? So I just did it to fund this, and it’s turned into this amazing, really powerful, important thing. All you raise, and just for anyone that’s looking to get funding in crypto, raising is a very difficult and soul-crushing endeavor, but you can do it. You just have to be careful who you get money from, and, like, that’s a whole other conversation. But just saying that to hold on to your values, best thing you can do is to crowdsource from people with aligned values rather than through sort of VCs, et cetera.

8:46So we often talk about incentives and DSCI and the financial opportunities and the financial pillars. But DSCI is actually comprised of four to five major pillars. One is funding because that is a huge source of issue in the scientific realm. But there’s also frameworks of ownership, data management, access, publication, like there are different aspects that DeSci is trying to tackle in terms of making science more equitable, transparent, open, accessible to participants, whether you be a formerly trained scientist or a DeFi Degen or an artist or whomever, right? Like DeSci exists in a variety of different forms and if you attend the variety of conferences that we have, this one included, you’ll see speakers talking about different publishing

9:32frameworks, like how do you display, how do you share your data in a way that it still allows you to be self-sovereign and as Josh likes to put it, allow you to actualize the desires that you want to perceive, that you want to proceed with. Then you do have funding. You also have how do we engage the public who are not scientists in terms of understanding that they can be a part of the scientific record of knowledge or involve themselves in and Scientific Policies, how they deal with their own data, when you go to something like 23andMe and give out your genetics and you basically sign that away.

10:03There are other alternative ways, structures like participants like we are creating where you don’t have to sign it away. You can get all of the data analysis. You can find out your hereditary, your genetics, your family while still being owners of that access so that someone else can’t go and sell it for a profit. There are different verticals in DeSci and I think that’s something that’s important to acknowledge. College. And to your question about, to your comment about, you know, DeSci is basically science on the blockchain and Josh said yes, I say no. DeSci leverages techniques and tools and ethos that exist in Web3, but it is not solely Web3. And it’s actually a product

10:41of an earlier movement called the open science movement. We now have the tech to allow us to secure and build out and leverage these pillars and solve device solutions. But inherently It’s a, it’s, it’s, it’s, it leverages Web3, but it’s not all Web3. And so what was the premise of the open science movement? The open science movement was exactly what we were talking about. It’s the same ethos, right? The idea of making science more openly accessible to participants, not just for scientists themselves, but their ability to share with people who are not scientists, for scientists to be able to share better amongst themselves, for them to find ways to monetize their data in a way

11:16that is not decided by the institutions necessarily, but also as stakeholders in the decision. making. Now the problem with that is that at the end of the day, those who have the money govern the access rights. In this instance, what Web3 allows is for us to be able to crowdsource science. Never before were you able to crowdsource science, like early on. The original form of science back hundreds of thousands of years ago was a community-based initiative, right? You could get coalitions of individuals coming together for a certain cause. Then it got captured by institutions, operations, right? And this is where we lead to the days we have. So this is actually a progression of science back to its original state, where anybody who wants to participate, whether you be an artist who wants to graphically represent data in such a way as to make it amenable for people to understand, you want to be a creator, you want to just be a philosopher, an ideator, you want to be a policy person, you can all participate in the growing record of science.

12:15And inside this summit that you two have organized after like the past, it sounds like you said two and a half years, yeah, you’ve been working on this project. What do you see as like the, I guess the milestones, the lead up to where we are right now? Yeah, great question. So the first thing is formation, right? I was here three years ago to the day at East Denver three years ago. There was a house, we call it the DeSci house. It’s where what you could consider the DeSci OGs all first met. Some people here have built and launched and raised millions for their wonderful products

12:45which were ideated and first discussed in this house three years ago That’s so cool Yeah, really cool I was really, really early fish there and as Jelani mentioned, I’m sort of more from the non-academic background, right? And so I was really out of my depth But just a testament to what this space is all about is that they actually welcomed and accepted me Yes, there might have been some, you know, who’s this guy kind of thing but ultimately, always, right? But I was really welcomed in and really accepted. And we’re still here, major players, like really major players now. And it’s wonderful to see. So formation was the initial hurdle, right? Was getting people together and start thinking, this is something we can do.

13:22Then you have to either convince people to join or build something that they must use. And we decided to go down that road because you can convince people to join with tokens or marketing and all that kind of vaporware, but it’s not sustainable. And it’s certainly not what science needs. What science needs is something new that you can utilize to improve the scientific method, to improve participation. That’s the sort of thing that we’re most passionate about at DeSci World, is the participation, more just the culture or the mindset of science, what it means to be a scientist, what it means to do science, how science can be distributed, how you can utilize science in your everyday life without being an academic or a PhD or having certain access to resources.

14:04And so we’re building these tools to show people and scientists and institutions what is out there, how their mindset can change and how it’s better to change your mindset into this much more holistic view of the world. And then the next step, which is the point we’re in right now, is the adoption phase. And so for anyone that is in that sort of DeFi mindset and looking for those pre-adoption things, DeSci is definitely that for the next year and a half, two years. I think the way that I like to say it and we like doing things so Josh and I are oftentimes doing podcasts together we have our own podcast series yeah yeah you can check it out on YouTube DeSci World YouTube DeSci World Spotify and it’s it’s called DeSci Rising essentially it is where we allow we’re not we allow we sit down with the different projects in the space and we let them showcase what they’re about we let them introduce themselves to the to the larger community and just learn about what they’re doing and one of our intro statements is more than the tech more than

15:01and the funding, it is the people who are going to be using these tools that are really going to make the changes that we’re hoping to see in science, right? And that’s really a lot of the major pillar that we’ve based ourselves on. So a lot of projects at the beginning initially started with building out platforms and tooling. And I think to me, and what attracted me originally to work with Josh and DeSci World is that while that’s great, you still always need to factor in the people. Then at such an early stage, a lot of projects are head down working on the tech. and we decided to just tackle that void of the people and so we built the culture, we

15:35built the community aspects, we helped usher people in, we do, like I said, the real life conferences is pretty much, we’re mostly the ones who do them throughout the space, throughout the year and now that we have that collective following, we have that collective consciousness about what DeSci is, what DeSci world is, who we are, now we’re going to build the tech and provide an opportunity for people to integrate with us and then by automatically integrate with with the rest of the tooling, right? So aggregation and dissemination are really the lifeblood points of what DeSci World and what we’re interested in doing. And inside the past five days at this summit,

16:11what have you seen be, I guess, the most exciting talks for each of you respectively? Exciting talks, okay, I’m gonna do that thing that everybody hates and be really biased about my own projects. But at our Hacker House, we have had like, I think 20 different workshops over the past 10 days. Oh, wow. Spread over four days. So there’d be four days of like- You guys are doing so much. This, and then you got stuck on over there. You guys are programming, programming, programming, and programming. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. Like honestly, too much. Too much is like maybe the right word actually. Yeah. But the, so the workshops that we’ve had at our house have been these nice intimate setting

16:45in this beautiful, large hacker house. So there’s been a TV and someone presenting and there’s been, you know, 10 to 20 people watching. And it’s the intimacy of the moment and people starting to loosen up a little bit. and you see when someone’s on stage, you know, doing a presentation at a conference, you see, okay, now I’m going to present, now I’m going to pitch. When you have someone in a more intimate setting, it’s like, now I’m going to share what I’m doing, right? And it’s like, you can directly interact with them, you can learn about what it is they’re building, how it might work with your project. And I think those intimate settings, you can’t replace them. It’s very difficult to replicate unless you have like a fat ass house in the middle of Denver with loads of people there, right? And it’s something that this is our first time doing it.

17:23We are absolutely going to be doing this all over the world many, many more times My favorite talk was probably from Lemonade Social I think Celine from Lemonade Social has put together a really great platform with her team And we’re going to be partnering with them as well What is Lemonade Social? Lemonade Social is, okay, so precursor We have proof of knowledge, which is a unified data layer That allows you to create knowledge and attest to it on-chain When your knowledge is utilized by an LLM, you’re paid for the utilization as an LLM LLM being the AI chatbot you’re referring to Any LLM, any AI chatbot, but we have our own unified chatbot, which we’re calling Indrasil, the North Tree of Knowledge

18:08IGGI is going to be like a free public good where people can query it And you’ll get information derived from the Ngrams, which are containing user knowledge Which they get paid every time it gets queried Anyways, it’s a unified data layer, okay, that people can interface with And if you query your data, then you get paid. Yeah, yeah. And people pay to use it, but you said it’s public good. So the global chatbot is a public good, but there will be ways for people to monetize their own knowledge by wrapping them in custom GPT chatbots. So you have domain-level experts, and then that’s a source of revenue for the knowledge creators themselves.

18:38And it could be knowledge on anything. I was talking to Jules here about how he could leverage his knowledge of media, and how to get people to interact with social media advice, how to get people to do marketing, sales. If that’s queried, he’s getting paid.

18:52Unified Data Layer, Lemonade Social is utilizing a similar technology, but without that unification of the data layer, but like sort of closed off sort of groups for events and for communities. And so you can have a data layer within a small community that sort of is, people can talk to it and make events, make NFTs, and then you can query it as a chatbot service and say, what’s going on in this event? And then it will tell you who’s there and what’s happening. And so we’ve basically We built the same thing, but on a unified global layer with knowledge as the currency. And Lemonade Social is a front-end that allows you to organize yourselves around events and

19:30sort of like selling, like it’s called Lemonade because the Lemonade stand. So it allows you to leverage your business, your small-medium enterprise, and power it up with this chatbot interface. We’re actually partnering so that we have the data that is collected from the individual

19:49So you have this global database which is fed from all of these sources and everybody’s getting incentivized the more it’s being used. As you eliminate social, that becomes an on-ramp of knowledge from people who are already interacting over in that piece of the internet. Exactly. So essentially, you have an oasis where anybody can drink from, right? And what we’re incentivizing now, we’re incentivizing the data lake structure, but what we are partnering with is people who want to create these cups, these front ends that can sit on top of it. and you can monetize as you choose. The data lake itself is free. We incentivize the use of the data lake,

20:21but if you wanna monetize on top of that, then you get compounding opportunities with that. So that’s the interesting piece for us. Very cool, and what about yourself? Inside the talks that have been happening, what has been like most compelling or what were you most excited about even before you got here? Yeah, so I view the DeSci space as two different paradigms. There’s the grassroots DeSci, which I think the DeSci world component and some of these more vanguard or esoteric versions of science taken. And then you have those that are institution or enterprise facing. So those that are just trying to tick the needle for enterprise.

20:59So whether it be operations, efficiency, cost saving, integrating patient groups with actual institutions like the Pfizer and the universities and the biobanks and whatnot. And I think that is what’s most exciting to me because I see that as step one. So again, to make a little dichotomy or compare and contrast between DeFi and DeSci, I think DeFi and Web3 as a whole really leaned into the grassroots ground up perspective. I think DeSci actually counterbalances that or provides it in a different way where it’s a balancing act between top down and bottom up. There’s a lot of things in science that you just can’t do bottom up, right? Because of, especially in the biomedical space, just because of regulations, you want to make sure people are safe, you want to make sure people’s data is private. And so I am very keen on the de-sci space integrating with these traditional scientific peers in making more efficient systems that are still conscious of the stakeholders at the bottom.

22:00and so we’ve had examples of talks here by persons like Remedy and AminoChain and DeSci nodes that are integrating with larger institutions and I think that’s really what’s going to drive adoption the same way that we’re seeing now DeFi adoption in the larger traditional financial space is what’s actually going to allow like with the ETFs is what’s making you know things more common and more adoptable more accepted across the boards and DeSci started with that so I’m really excited to see how that plays out in the long run. And I appreciate that, and I guess my last two questions are, now that this conference is wrapping up in the next three days for you two, what’s on the horizon, how do you most leverage all this content you’ve gotten from all these conversations, dig up on your YouTube, it sounds like you two are doing lots, lots, lots, lots.

22:46Yeah, we are. So our workshops at the house are actually on our DeSign World YouTube, so you can actually, we live stream them all so you can learn about some of the up and coming projects that aren’t quite as mature as to be present at their official conference. but really these are the projects that you’re going to see next year that have built themselves out and probably have evolved faster because they have the substrata that is necessary. The coming year is going to be really, really busy. We are doubling down on our conferences, on our in-person activities in the DeSci space, the integration or the maturation of the proof of work

23:17that knowledge substrate and the integration with a variety of different tooling is happening very, very quickly. I know Josh is going to be traveling a lot. I’m going to be traveling a lot. We both We both work with, we have DeSci World as our core, but we work with many other DeSci projects and DeFi projects. And so Josh is spearheading a lot of integration with DeFi, Harvest Finance, a variety of different tool sets. So I think this year is going to be the year of DeSci, but also the year of DeSci interoperating with traditional science, traditional finance and decentralized finance. Yeah, a lot as you can tell is going to be happening this year and next year.

23:57So for us, we’ve been on a long, long journey. 2021, I started this. 2022, Jelani joined and we’ve been building ever since. Congrats. Yeah, honestly, thank you so much. It’s been a huge journey and we have some unbelievably exciting things happening this year that it’s just really puts a lump in my throat when I think about the progress, really. So just to sort of make it clear, we have DeSci.World, which is our website. It’s our information aggregation site that Jelani mentioned earlier. You can find there a dashboard of over a hundred projects and what they’re doing in DeSci We built that a long time ago, that was first product

24:30We have V2 of that coming out in about a month or so’s time And so, like, it’s gonna be so good, I can’t believe it DeSci.world V2 is coming out, and then we have a global conference circuit We’re going to be, I mean, I’m gonna be presenting Oxford University this month Oh, that’s so exciting, congrats I mean, to come from, not from academia like this guy In the halls of Oxford. Yeah, it’s huge. It’s huge. And then we’re going to be doing a tour of Asia. We’re going to be going to seven different countries in Asia towards the latter half of this year. We’re going to be staying in Zanzibar for an entire month, trialing proof of knowledge as a coordination framework for a network state. Jelani will be in Australia. He’ll also be coming to UK. We’re going to be all over the world and we want everybody that’s watching this to feel welcome and interested to reach out to us and say, hey, I’m going to be at this time in this

25:21What are we up to? And there might be something we’re doing. And one of the things that I hope comes across in this video, and when people see other footage of both Jelani and I speaking, is we really do care about the people, the way that it feels to be involved in this thing. People like to say the word vibes. It’s a good one. That’s what we really care about because there’s a lot of technical infrastructure in this space. And DeSci is just as much a cultural movement as it is a technological movement. And we really need to try and inspire into people the idea,

25:50the idea that a lot of these structures are completely fucked, and if we don’t figure it out, especially in science and academia, very, very quickly, it’s going to be a lot of issues for most people. And power structures lie in the scientific and academic institutions, and so if you want to disrupt, you have to figure it out through academia and science, because you need legitimacy, you need evidence, you need people to feel like they can trust what you’re doing, and science is the way to do that. Well, I really appreciate you both taking time to speak with me. My day or afternoon at the summit has been very informative from the conversation around Athena DAO to the panel that you were on earlier, even to the guy talking about space. I thought it was super cool to hear people here think about how people can contribute and be part of publishing information about the stars. That’s not really my role of existence.

26:42I think it’s just been a super enriching day and informative and that’s even like what Fournier was saying yesterday is like, yeah, I definitely want to go. It seems like it’ll be educational. And I think that’s definitely been my experience. And I appreciate you all creating vibes and welcoming us and yeah, helping my audience learn a little bit more about what DeSci is and why it’s important. I did do like some like academic writing when I was in college. I published in like philosophy space and I’m very intrigued in how I can communicate to my professors that I worked with, you know, how this could pertain to them and the conferences they go to. And so I’m excited to share this with them.

27:11and even sitting downstairs and texting them like, when you guys go to conferences, you should let me know because like you’re talking about our paper and I’m not there and I’d like to be. I just want to add like one last thing. So you spend enough time in DeSci, oftentimes you’re biomedical, but to your point, DeSci exists across all scientific verticals. So whether you be a philosopher, a social scientist, an economist or whatever it may be, we need you in this space as much as you need this space to help you. So don’t be shy, don’t think that you’re not qualified. You say that again, right to the camera.

27:44You said we need you. Yeah, so we need you as much as you need us, right? And so don’t feel shy. It doesn’t matter if you are a neuroimmunologist, again, a degen, whatever it is. We need you to help us build the bio, to help us build the tech that’s actually going to help change what’s important to you. And that’s really what DeSci does. It allows you to explore, to innovate, to merge, to collaborate with a bunch of different people who are really interested in trying to figure out some fun shit, trying to start some new shit, and just have a really good time in doing it, and make a living in doing
