First Friday at Tim Correa's bar.
First Friday in Denver, inside a bar with a band playing. The owner gives his name as Tim Correa and says he is from Denver; the channel’s own title for the piece calls him Abuelo Timeo. “After they go to the galleries, people come in here and they love this band. We make people happy.” The band is Romance: “Happy First Friday, everybody. We’re from Romance, main band, First Friday.”
Asked whether he was an activist, he says yes, and gives a history in one breath: “I’ve changed a lot of things in the world. I used to be a job developer. I opened up the doors for minorities, I worked with Martin Luther King, I worked with the Black Pantons, all the poor kids who couldn’t report it, 15 years!” That is his account, as he gave it in a loud room; the transcript carries it as spoken.
Two minutes from the Denver spring, filmed by Maceo. The audio is a bar on a Friday night; the transcript below is from the original audio.
