Lorah on the ground in Abuja.

Bitcoin Pizza Day from Abuja, Nigeria, where most of the room has never been to a crypto event before and the questions are about pizza rather than blockchains. It is the most cheerful thing in this archive and it is doing something serious underneath.

Lorah sets the premise for anyone who has wandered in: sixteen years ago a man traded two boxes of pizza for ten thousand Bitcoin. Then she works the room.

Rahmar is an event mascot, which he describes as a job in four words: “I go wear the vibes.” It is his first Bitcoin event and somebody gave him their ticket. He claims fifty slices in a sitting, “in my fit farm era.” Asked to describe pizza without using the word, he does it in two: food coma.

Bright is expecting a massive giveaway and joy, in that order. Pearl says she can finish half a box, and immediately gets challenged on whether that is even an achievement.

Matthew is a builder, in the ordinary sense of the word rather than the conference sense. He rates pizza an eight out of ten and manages three slices.

Grace gives the most useful answer, because she is the only one who does not perform. It is her first event of any kind, and she rates it a seven: “It’s a bit not like I expected. Somehow not organised.” She is a community manager, makes videos, writes code and builds automations. She is not looking for a compliment and does not give one.

The host closes it out. “The planning went successful. We did a lot of networking, a lot of teaching about web three, and yeah, the pizza was really, really tasty.”

One of sixteen pieces filed from three cities for a five hundred dollar bounty, and the only one from Abuja.
