0:00 Oh, yeah. There we go. Let me just look and see the framing. Okay. Looks good. Lighting looks good. Oh, yeah. I feel good about the lighting. Like, we're in the shade, but, like, our faces are visible. I mean. Which I feel like. Like, I don't want sun all in my face. I'll take off my hat though, I suppose. But, what's up, everybody? Welcome to another episode of We Them Niggers. We're out here at Oasis on chain, a conference hosted by Stephan DeLaveau, bringing together folks out here, the Bahamians and others that pulled up. It's definitely been a dope experience to meet folks like, tell me your first name again.
0:39 Sharok. Sharok. Sharok, I said it correctly? Yeah. Sharok. And it's been dope to meet folks like Sharok, he's working with Beam. It's been dope to meet more folks from the Bahamas who are thinking about crypto, thinking about how to use it to change lives here in the Bahamas. And it's been cool to hear you speak about how your products can support those changes and happening. How has it been here for you being so far? It's been amazing. We came here, we were trying to trial our system out, we built a merchant POS system last week, shout out to the engineers at Beam, we kind of hacked it together, burned a midnight dawn on both ends, but we wanted to trial it out, and we came here, we kind of set it all up, and it went pretty well, yeah, pretty happy
1:20 And so I'm curious to hear a bit about how you got into this space Like how did you get into crypto and like, you know, why is it important to you? I know you showed me that you're Pakistani Like how does that fit into you being here and like what's important to you? Yeah, that's a great question Like my crypto journey started while I was in university I knew about Bitcoin but it wasn't really It was interesting to me from a technology perspective But I got really deep into the space when I had a real problem So Are you excited about Beam? You guys are, it seems like, transforming this world of payments on chain, inspired by the Bitcoin white paper
67:52 So really here for the fundamental value that crypto is here to bring to the world And yeah, I'm excited I mean, yeah, because like, the reason we built Beam, and Andy touched on this in the talk that he gave yesterday When you looked at the title of the Bitcoin white paper, it says, a peer-to-peer electronic cash system So it's been 15 years, and we still don't see any meaningful progress towards that So, at our company, Eco, we're really trying to push that vision forward Yeah, so, I think it's finally, the technology is finally there for us to do it But someone has to do it, so, we're going to give our best shot
68:26 Hell yeah, fuck yeah, we appreciate the work you're doing, absolutely And I'm excited for my audience to learn more about yourself and about this product And about, really, this project, and, you know, the way this technology is changing the world You know, that's why I'm here to bring people in the conversation Yeah, and if you want to reach out to me directly, you can tweet me. My Twitter is S-T-R-A-O. So just feel free to reach out. And again, if you want more information about Beam, just go to eco.org. There's a Discord. We have a great community. Hop on and join the revolution, I guess. Yeah, join the revolution, exactly
68:59 We're changing the world and come get in the conversation about how you too can be a part of this movement You know what this is, this is We Them Media, this is We Them Niggas You know I'm Maceo, if you're unfamiliar you have to go check out more content We have a link tree and my bio is on Instagram and Twitter Maceo D Langston, Maceo underscore D underscore Langston You know We Them Media, everything's in the bio So go read the description of the podcast, wherever you're looking And you'll be able to get to all my stuff And all his stuff will be there as well
