0:00So, we’re out We’re at First Friday here in Denver, Colorado. Yeah? Yeah. How has your First Friday been so far? Oh, it’s been really nice. I bought this awesome vest. Okay. Um and I’ve been enjoying looking at all the Denver artists out here. It’s been amazing seeing all the different type of art expressions, seeing the community out here. Okay. What’s been the highlight so far? I think getting connected to other artists. I’m an artist myself, so being able to explore Denver’s artists and especially a lot of black artists out here has really been the highlight of, I think, um the art walk community. Okay. What about you?
0:37Um I would say the best thing is just looking at all the beautiful art and seeing different people and different things. Yeah. Okay. And you said that you’re an artist. What kind of artist are you? Yeah. So, I like to do a lot of oil pastels and a lot of mixed media, multimedia art. Okay. Super sick. Okay. Super sick. And are you two from here in Denver originally? No. So, I’m from Maryland, but I moved here almost 4 years ago. And how does it compare to being in Maryland? The people are nicer, but then also they lack diversity. So, it’s a mixed bag of feelings.
1:13And then I’m originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, although I’ve lived on and off in Colorado all my life, but just recently moved back to Colorado 7 months ago. Been living abroad for 2 years working for the Peace Corps. Okay. Where were you living? Ecuador. Okay. That’s cool. Yeah. How does Ecuador compare to being like here in Denver? Um honestly, the standard of living is a lot different. I’ll tell you that. Food is a lot fresher over there. Um life lifestyle is a lot slower as well. Um immediately upon arrival, I have non-stop moving since I touched down. So. Okay. Okay. And so, this week I’m coming out and
1:53asking people the question, what’s something that made you smile this week? Um, I’d say my friends. Yeah, they’ve always made me smile this whole entire week and I’m truly blessed. I think the fact that the sun being out, being able to feel the sun and the warmth and have the days be longer and have more time. Yeah. I was about to say we had the sun the whole winter. Yeah, it’s truly It’s truly 300 days of sunshine. I did in Colorado. I heard it’s getting dry here. What’s your take on the water situation in Colorado? While I do absolutely love the fact that we’re getting sun here in Denver, I
2:38absolutely love the warmth. I also can’t ignore the fact that we are Colorado is in their day stage one drought and the fact that we are starting to build AI data centers in here and the fact that we are not getting enough water to suffice, very concerning. Probably should be at the top of all of our priorities. Those who control the water control the power of the people. Mhm. Absolutely. And if you could ask people around the world one question, what would you ask them? What does self-care look like to you? Mhm. What is your part in community? Heavy hitters, heavy hitters.
