2:17A: You filming?
2:18B: Yeah, yeah, I’m filming.
2:19A: Nice, fuck yeah.
2:20B: I’ve been like, I’ve been here for about a month. I’ve been like trying to go out every day and shoot videos.
2:24A: Oh shit, you just moved to Denver?
2:26B: I didn’t move here. I drove out here for a tech conference and then my car broke down.
2:29A: Oh yeah?
2:30B: And I just been kind of crashing with my friends.
2:31A: Yeah. Ah shit, well yeah, at least you got somewhere to stay. Fuck.
2:34B: Amen, amen.
2:35A: Where you from?
2:36B: Philly.
2:37A: Philly? Okay, all right, nice. Yeah, I’ve been out to Philly a couple of times. I really like it.
2:41B: Oh yeah?
2:41A: Yeah. I want to move to the East Coast at some point. It’s just fucking moving is so fucking expensive.
2:48B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just gotta send it.
2:50A: Yeah, exactly.
2:52B: Yes, yes, yes, yes. Send it. If you get a job, I feel like you can always get a job.
2:56A: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
2:58B: All right, but is it ideal, huh? All right, wait, wait.
3:02A: I’m turning the flash off.
3:04B: What’s up? What’s up? What’s up? What’s your name?
3:06A: I’m Tor.
3:06B: It’s nice to meet you, Tor.
3:07A: What’s your name?
3:08B: Masea.
3:08A: I was gonna say, that’s sick.
3:10B: Sick, yeah. Nice to meet you. I’m shooting videos for my YouTube. I’ve been asking people questions walking around Denver for about a month.
3:15A: Oh, that’s awesome.
3:15B: And yeah.
3:17A: How’d you start?
3:18B: Honestly, I came out here for a tech conference and then my car broke down on the way here. I’ve just been here longer than I planned to be. And, uh, I don’t know, I’ve been making -- I started making content like in the crypto space a couple years ago. Yeah, I’ve just been, um, honestly, I’ve been traveling, going like different conferences around the world, but I wasn’t really putting out content very consistently. I was just doing like podcast content.
3:38A: That’s awesome.
3:39B: So now I’m kind of like trying to pivot into doing more vlog stuff. My life is less interesting, but like it’s still cool.
3:43A: You seem cool, man. Shit like this happens randomly, right?
3:47B: Put on my YouTube. I feel like at least I’m documenting something.
3:51A: Yeah, that’s really cool. Yeah, everything happens for a reason. Maybe that’s why you’re meant to be, right?
3:59B: That’s what my friend said. He said, you believe in God? Honestly, that was like the same day I started posting on YouTube. Maybe it was like a day or two later. But I feel like I definitely locked in. I was like, what else am I gonna do?
4:09A: That’s real.
4:11B: Yeah, this guy’s tired of me though. He had me like shooting events for him. We went to like this songwriting camp, and then we went to like some weed -- big weed company like marketing event yesterday. And he’s like, Marcel, you’re shooting like this is for YouTube. This is for money.
4:26A: I’m like, I like this thing right here.
4:28B: I mean, he’s funny. I got funny videos of him being pissed.
4:32A: Hell yeah.
4:34B: He didn’t give them to me yet though, but they’re going on my YouTube for sure. I’m trying to get him convinced. Yeah, no, he’s super sick. Yeah, this scooter is kind of concerning me.
4:43A: You don’t know how to cancel it?
4:45B: No, I don’t know. I like the app. No, I like the app logged out. I’m kind of confused by it. I like skaters.
4:52A: You want a cigarette? I haven’t smoked a cigarette in 2 years.
4:55B: He’s been riding for 20 minutes.
4:57A: Pull it.
4:58B: Yeah. Just like not logging in.
5:02A: Weird, bro. I’m just like said, like I know the person who hacked that.
5:07B: What’s it called though? Um, what do you feel like is a is a something interesting or not acknowledged enough about Denver?
5:13A: Shit, I don’t know. That’s it’s a very broad question. I feel like a lot of things.
5:19B: Yeah, whatever comes up there, right? It’s like a stream of consciousness kind of thing.
5:23A: Yeah, this is honestly I would say right now the Music industry. It’s like, okay, music scene here is -- it needs to grow for sure because it’s stuck in like one little very selective group right now, and I feel like it definitely has room to expand.
5:37B: But say more about that. Like, like, what is it? What’s the single group right now?
5:40A: The single group?
5:41B: Yeah.
5:41A: Uh, I would say it’s a lot of -- I love metal, don’t get me wrong. I would say it’s a lot of metal though, and like DIY shows, which is really cool. And that, that actually is something that’s growing a lot right now.
5:52B: But okay.
5:53A: I feel like I’m a punk drummer. Like, I play in a punk band.
5:56B: Really?
5:57A: Yeah.
5:57B: That’s sick.
5:58A: Thank you. I feel like punk could definitely be a bigger thing here right now. And then they’re also both musicians.
6:04B: Oh, yeah? What’s up? I’m Isaiah. I’m shooting videos for my YouTube. You want to be -- what’s up?
6:08A: Yeah, nice to meet you.
6:10B: It is nice to meet you. Hell yeah.
6:12A: I’m Sky.
6:12B: It’s nice to meet you. Hell yeah. So you’re both musicians too? Is it okay if I record you?
6:16A: Yeah.
6:17B: Hell yeah. I was telling him I’ve been shooting content, just kind of like documenting stuff, walking around. So, like a punk? You do punk stuff as well, or like what kind of music?
6:25A: No, I play guitar. Playing guitar since I was ten.
6:29B: Okay, well that’s sick. Who’s your favorite guitarist?
6:33A: Probably Eddie Van Halen. Okay. That’s kind of what got me into like playing guitar was like classic rock stuff. Oh really? I’m really into reggae now too.
6:41B: So. Okay. Hell yeah. How about you?
6:43A: I play classical and jazz piano.
6:46B: Okay, that’s sick. So do you two jam? Do you all jam?
6:48A: We’re going to soon. We haven’t yet, but we have plans. I like that. I like that.
6:51B: When you do it, you. Yeah, I put it on YouTube so I could watch. Is there like -- what’s like the jam culture here like? Is there one? Yeah, yeah. What are they like, people that come together just to jam? Like, like open mic kind of style, people kind of show up? Okay, what school do you go to?
7:16A: CU Denver, downtown. Um, there’s not like, yeah, there’s not a lot of that kind of stuff on campus, but there’s definitely like open mics and stuff around the city. I don’t go to them enough, but I think there’s pretty good music. Yeah, I mean, like, I was always like, fuck yeah, there’s this thing in Philly, it’s called like Second Street Music.
7:40B: This guy Casey -- Kylie, he runs it, and they have like an open jam every Tuesday, so people’s like open mic and open jam. But they have like mics and everything and they livestream the whole thing to YouTube every week. It’s like a 6-hour stream. Anybody can come and get on the drums or on the guitar or on the bass or bring their own stuff.
7:55A: That’s awesome.
7:57B: Yeah, that’s pretty cool.
7:58A: They should do that here.
7:59B: That’s what I’m saying. You should do it here.
8:00A: That’s something that’s unrecognized in Denver. I’ll start doing that. Take inspiration from Philly.
8:05B: I think it’s pretty sick.
8:07A: Cheesesteaks, man.
8:10B: Nah, it’s cool.
8:14A: Do you have Instagram?
8:15B: Yeah, for sure.
8:16A: Can I grab it?
8:16B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.
